Wordless Wednesday: Jena Six

"Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe."

-- Frederick Douglas, American abolitionist, editor, orator, author, statesman, reformer, and slave.

  6. Thank you for spreading awareness of this case. It's terrible that this type of racism still exists in the U.S.

  7. When I tell people stories about my own life...like this one...

    http://kristikay.blogspot.com/2007/06/lets-talk-racism-in-america.html

I don't think people actually believe it, deep in their heart. They think "This can't be. It's 2007."

But, yes, it can be. It is. I could tell a dozen more stories just like it that happened to my husband and I over the course our 17 years together. Or things that happened to my husband when he was a child. Before we met. Even in the so called "racially balanced" city we are from.

I can only believe it has to get better. Otherwise I'm not sure if I could get out of bed in the morning.

Thanks for this enlightening, but truly sad post.

  17. I am sorry to say I know nothing of this but I wil look into it now.

I am studying the Dharma - the Buddhist road to enlightenment.

It has made me re-evaluate ALL of my previous beliefs / prejudices and moral certainties.
