Palmdale Teen Beat by Security Guard Over Cake Crumbs

What is happening in America? Jailings, shootings, lynchings, nooses in schools, unjust criminal just-us actions in the courts, Black worker arrested and charged with assault for cooking "too salty" burger, Black woman and her child gang raped in Florida, Black woman raped and tortured by an entire redneck family in West Virginia.

And the beatdown continues ... Did you see what happened in Palmdale, CA?

A young Black girl assaulted by school security and called 'nappy-head' by the security guard because she didn't pick up crumbs off the cafeteria floor. At the end of the day three teens and a mother are arrested.

One of the students arrested caught the whole thing on video. The incident was instigated over cake.

It was a birthday party at Knight High School in Palmdale. Early last week, during lunch hour, students say the cake dropped, and then everything else dropped. There was mayhem and chaos. A student used his cell phone to capture video of 16-year-old Pleajhia Mervin being arrested by campus police early last week.

Mervin says a security guard slammed her against a table at a lunchroom at the high school and twisted her arms behind her back so violently, he broke her wrist. Her wrist is in a cast. "He put my arm behind my back and he started raising it until it hurt, so I told him, 'Stop, it hurts.' He had slammed me on the table and told me to hold still. He called me a 'nappy-head,' and that's when I just started crying," said Mervin.

Mervin claims she was roughed up simply because she failed to pick up every crumb of a birthday cake she accidentally dropped on the floor of the lunchroom during a lunch-hour birthday celebration for a friend. She says she thought she cleaned up the mess, but the security guard thought otherwise. "He said, 'You have to come pick the rest of this cake up.' So I said, 'I picked it up.' He gets on his walkie-talkie, he got a call, so I just started walking to class, and that's when he grabbed me," said Mervin.

Mervin says when the security guard realized he was being videotaped, he tackled the student shooting the video.

Mervin's mother, Latrisha Majors, said when she rushed to the school demanding to see her daughter, she was accused of battering the principal. She says she was then arrested and forced to spend the night in jail.

"This has caused such a disruption in my life," said Majors. "I try to explain this, but I can't. The 'nappy-head' thing, she doesn't understand that there is prejudice going on every day, all day long. It's not right."
Pleajhia Mervin has been expelled from school. She will have to go to an expulsion hearing. She says she's even been accused of battering the security guard, and was ticketed for littering. Her mother works for the school district. They fired her when they learned she had been arrested. A group of parents, students and community activists plan to protest outside the school.

Villagers, I come back to my original question, What is happening in America?

  1. I think people are just showing their true colors (no pun intended). The guard was definitely out of line in how he treated her. Mervin was half his size and I'm sure posed no threat to his safety. Thanks for informing us of this situation.

  2. This is ludicrous...he should have been fired on the spot. If he had nothing to hide there was no need to be concerned that the incident was being video taped.

Also, I would think that child welfare would be involved in this case as this child suffered a physical injury.

  3. I am dumbfounded by what the media NOW is beginning to report. Many of these cases have been going on for years without it actually making any news wires. [I know many social workers who tell me some bizarre stories so this is just an assumption I am making. Do not quote me on this.]

Do you believe that in the advent of the web that now we are really hearing the truth of what is going on in some communities?

    Thank you for sharing!!

  4. Theo - It should be interesting to see how this story plays out. I am interested in hearing the security guard's point of view on the events.

AJ - I agree. If the facts remain as they are I imagine that somebody is going to get sued big time!

Jennifer - No doubt the advent of blogs and video cameras have increased the amount of information that flows into our minds. No way that this information from Palmdale, CA would have made it to me if not for the Internet. You can beleive that the Mainstream Media doesn't care about reporting on these issues. MSM didn't report Jena Six until we got involved.

  5. This is outrageous! Why was the girl ever touched over some fucking cake? Why was the security guard even involved, it's not a security issue. Even if she through the cake down on the groud on purpose, write her up and send her to the office.

I wonder what white progressive Jena 6 apologist will say about this one.

This is why we marched last week, and its also why that can't be a one time event. We are under assault people.

  6. How is it the school can just get the mom arrested when she did not commit a crime. She wants justice and yet she gets arrested. This is happening all over. People just getting arrested when they did not commit a crime. This shiZt has to STOP NOW!

  7. Yobachi and Anon - We must stay aware of the things that are taking place around the nation ... and bring them to the light whenever possible. The Jena, LA issue took place last year ... and I didn't first learn of it until May (five months later). We have to use technology to keep our people informed ... once informed ... the right things will happen.

  8. This scumbags name is Chris Neumeyer I believe. He should be arrested and charged at the very least with assault! If his phone number is found it should be posted so that he can get a piece of our mind.Threats aren't necessary but he should be reminded that his actions were atrocious. The school and the police should also be contacted by everyone concerned for this little girl's saftey. You can listen to mothers story of events here.

  10. Well, the raism is FINALLY becoming more blatant. It makes it easier to prosecute. The sneaky northern racism is the thing thats hard to fight.

  11. Anon - I hope you are right. It would be nice to see racism being knocked out for good in our country.

  12. the video is not the whole incident..this has been a hot topic in LA....the security officer claims that a female officer approached the girl first and she slapped her and was going off...it's policy that a female officer approaches a female first...when she could not be subdued she was placed in a hold and then cuffed. She also claimed that her wrist was broken..but has no medical evidence that this was the case. That's the opposing side....

If this was racist...everyone involved should be fired...but OUR media is notorious for getting it wrong often (Duke Lacross anyone) ..so before someone jumps in front of the podium..make sure we get our facts straight...

  14. Im sure were not hearing the whole story here. Theres a reason for the arrests. If you dont believe that your'e just paranoid. Sharpton is just a scumbag and a vulture just like Jesse. They never miss an opportunity to promote themselves so fools will give them money. Both of them will burn in hell.

  15. Chuck - Many people get arrested with no charges filed or later found not guilty. Often people are arrested for poor reasons.

re: Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. My observation is that people call them ... not the other way around. Al and Jesse respond to crisis situations when they are called ... they don't create the situations themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Al and Jesse dont "respond" to situations such as this, they swoop in like vultures to feed on the victims short lived notariety in order to promote themselves. They are an embarassment to true reverends everywhere (Creflo Dollar is a fine example). AND, when their wrong (the Duke rape case) they neither admit it nor apologize. However, the security guard overreacted and needs to find another line of work. Even if the girl was being rude and disrespectful, there is no reason to harm a child. Ever!

  17. Chuck - Well ... we are batting .500 with each other. We agree on the security guard; but, we can agree to disagree on the description of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton (both former presidential candidates) as vultures.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Thank you villager for your response. You and I agree that two people with differing opinions can carry on a respectful dialog with one another. We need more of that in America, It's about ALL of us.But I would like for you to tell me one single meaningful contribution either Al or Jesse ever made to this country.Your turn.

  19. Chuck - All village voices are welcome here. I appreciate your willingness to share your insights.

I'll take you up on your challenge. In fact, I think I can easily provide you with three "meaninful contributions" for Jesse Jackson (I'll come back later for Al Sharpton).

    1. He negotiated release of hostages in Kuwait and Kosovo back in the day. In fact, Republican leaders called on Jackson for help in getting hostages out of Iraq recently (source).

    2. He has been a good father. Do you remember the images of Jesse Jackson with his children at the Democratic national convention back when he ran for president? I think any parent would be proud to know that one of their children is serving in the US House of Representatives. That is a meaningful contribution.

    3. People aren't one thing. Jackson is often satirized in one way, however, it appears that Rev. Jackson inspires the young people at Jackson Creek Middle School.

Chuck, we can agree that Jesse Jackson is a flawed human being. But, aren't we all?

  20. Villager, thanks for the Jesse examples, but I still think he's nothing more than an opportunist. He's been one ever since he appeared at Dr. Kings assination press conference in the bloody shirt. THAT alone should have shown us who and what he was and is. As far as being a good father, a lot of children turn out well despite their parents, or at least one parent. We should all teach our children to be equality activists! Jesus told us to love one another, so I'll try my best to love Al and Jesse. Thank you.

  22. Chuck - Asante sana for sharing your village voice with us. I hope you will come back often.

Anon - I'm sorry that you feel that way.

  23. I think this was wrong, but if you don't focus on what else is going on right now in this world then you really aren't seeing the WHOLE story...
