For that matter I recall times when Prince and Michael Jackson were at the top of the charts every week. I'm getting old (sigh)... however maybe some of y'all can help me out. What do you recall about your youth? What do you wish you could listen to or visit or do again in 2008 that simply ain't available to listen to or do any longer?

ReplyDeleteWhat do I remember about my youth? The best thing was listening to Johnny Mathis, believe it or not! I know every word of his songs "Chances Are" "The Twelfth of Never" all his Christmas Songs. He was soooo romantic!

ReplyDeleteBBC - That memory ('being poor') remains with many of us today ... in fact, it is reality for too many of us today. That is a good wish for our futures... more duckets in our pockets!
ReplyDeleteWhenever my brother and sister and I were wreaking havoc on the house and my dad saw my mom getting that look of "I'm going to kill the children" in her eyes, he would hustle us into the car and take us to work with him. My dad worked in downtown Los Angeles, which used to be incredible, and he would just take us from store to store buying us all kinds of goodies. I'll never forget that. He was truly a treasure.

Shelia - Oddly enough, the work places for my parents was a mystery. My mom was a teacher for 35 years and my Dad was an aeronautical engineer for over 30 years. I don't recall ever going to his office. I did spend a year (2nd grade as I recall) at the same school that my mom taught ... but, I don't think I went with her to her school after that much, if at all.

ReplyDeleteMy husband's schedule has always been crazy and so has mine, and as a young administrator with the City I worked a lot of evenings trying to get up to speed, so I would pick my infant daughter up from the babysitter and bring her right back to the office.
Once she started walking, my husband, a college professor, would take her to class with him where she caused great disruption because the students spent more time playing with her than paying attention to him! She loved it!
By the time my son was born I had my own business so I just took him to the office with me everyday until he went to school.
Shelia - You inspire me to take my children with me to the office in the coming days. Thank you for sharing your story/memory of the past...
