I'm curious ... had you heard of this young woman who died before her time?
I might have heard something a few months back, but not any follow-up. When you said "missing" in this post, I first thought she might be alive, but I did a quick search and found that she had been found dead. What a horrible tragedy. I hope that there is an investigation and that this legislation is passed.

ReplyDeleteDeidra - Truthfully, I don't know who Nancy Grace is ... so I have no idea if she covered the story or not. As an aside, the young lady was found dead so the key issue right now is focusing support on the legislation.

This is so wrong. All victims of violence should be regarded with the same concern and media attention.
ReplyDeleteRhea - It is unlikely that will ever happen. A celebrity (Heath Ledger) dies of an overdose and the world comes to a halt. A marine dies in Iraq and nobody knows his name. A white teen goes missing and it becomes a media sensation. A Black teen goes missing and you cannot find his or her name with a Google search.
ReplyDeleteInstead of complaining ... we simply have to do it ourselves. We do it thru our blogs, our newspapers, our email listservs. We beat the drums as our ancestors used to do back in the day...
