What do Phylicia Moore and Natalee Holloway Have in Common?

If I say Natalee Holloway there is a good chance that you know what I'm talking about. However, what if I say Phylicia Moore? Did I get a blank stare?

Drumbeats came to us from Latimer Williams about legislation under consideration by Congress that will significantly improve the safety and security of students that go abroad for school-sanctioned trips.

Our prayers are with Phylicia Moore and her family. I imagine that friends and family of both Phylicia and Natalee support Phylica's Law.

I'm curious ... had you heard of this young woman who died before her time?

  1. I might have heard something a few months back, but not any follow-up. When you said "missing" in this post, I first thought she might be alive, but I did a quick search and found that she had been found dead. What a horrible tragedy. I hope that there is an investigation and that this legislation is passed.

  2. Thanks for posting this Villager. You already know I'm going to do a post about this and post her story as well. Have Nancy Grace covered this? She seem to be so caught up in Natalee's story and I wonder if she even care to cover this important matter.

  3. Anali - I will update the title of the post so that others aren't misled. I hope that the legislation is passed as well...

Deidra - Truthfully, I don't know who Nancy Grace is ... so I have no idea if she covered the story or not. As an aside, the young lady was found dead so the key issue right now is focusing support on the legislation.

  4. Nope, never heard of her. You know how it is with the media and Missing White Woman Syndrome.

  5. Woozie - This is one of the good things about having a blog. We can share information that seems to go under the radar for the MSM.

I have the petition for supporting Phylicia's Law over on the left-hand navigation bar of my blog. Please sign it if you have time or inclination...

  6. This is so wrong. All victims of violence should be regarded with the same concern and media attention.

  7. Rhea - It is unlikely that will ever happen. A celebrity (Heath Ledger) dies of an overdose and the world comes to a halt. A marine dies in Iraq and nobody knows his name. A white teen goes missing and it becomes a media sensation. A Black teen goes missing and you cannot find his or her name with a Google search.

Instead of complaining ... we simply have to do it ourselves. We do it thru our blogs, our newspapers, our email listservs. We beat the drums as our ancestors used to do back in the day...

Anyhow, thank you for visiting our village today. I hope you come back often!

  10. Reverend Wright insinuated Natalee Holloway was a promisuous person by saying she "GAVE IT UP" in Aruba.. PRINTED IN TRUMPET MAGAZINE aug 05.
I guess he did not put down Phyllis cause she is not white?

I can't understand how any Pastor of any color can put down a girl when her family is grieving her death and doesn't have a body.. IS THAT A CHRISTIAN???
Youtube on this I found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzgvqvNBEps

  11. Gibbler Says: Natalee Holloway was big stuff not because she was white but because her accused killer was the son of a big shot and they buried the body but good. Get over it. There's no payday for you here and the black special interest group. Quit feeling sorry for your interest group while your at it too.
