Sunday Inspiration: Our Train Ride

At birth we boarded the train and met our parents, and we believe they will always travel on our side. However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone. As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant i.e. our siblings, friends, children, and even the love of our lives. Many will step down and leave a permanent vacuum. Others will go so unnoticed that we don't realize they vacated their seats. This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells. Success consists of having a good relationship with all passengers requiring that we give the best of ourselves.

The mystery to everyone is: We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. So, we must live in the best way, love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are. It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life.

I wish you a joyful journey on the train of life. Reap success and give lots of love. More importantly, thank God for the journey. Lastly, I thank you for being one of the passengers on my train.

Tune In Tuesday: The Whispers

I have been blessed to have some wonderful women in my life. At the same time I have been cursed with an inability to maintain uplifting and mutually respectful relationships with them. In other words, I have screwed up most of my closest relationships ... never letting them grow into what God intended.

I'm now a grown-azzed man ... with three wonderful children ... two ex-wives. I now have a good relationship with the mother of my three children. The relationships are now child-centered versus being centered on the two of us.

All that being said ... tonight I felt a need to reflect on what has been and what may be again in the future. The words of The Whispers came to mind. I've had that special lady in my life before ... and listening to the mellow sounds of The Whispers ... I have hope that I may once again find that special Lady in my future.

Tune In Tuesday: Jennifer Holliday

I attended my first concert in many years last week while I was in Raleigh NC. There were two highlights for me.

First, I truly enjoyed the comedic stylings of Debra Terry. I hope that she hits it big in the coming weeks and months. I encourage villagers to check her out whenever she is in your town.

The other highlight for me was Jennifer Holliday. She mixed her songs with a personal story that pulled at my heart throughout the evening. She brought the audience to it's feet when she sang her signature song ... and she did point out that it was *HER* song, regardless of efforts to have it claimed by others in recent years.

I listened to her song and wondered if ever there was a woman on this planet who thought about me in the way that Jennifer Holliday is thinking about the man in her song? Listen and enjoy and decide ... have you ever been in a loving relationship that could result in such a song?
