The AfroSpear encourages you to take a moment to read the letter Kenneth Foster wrote to the Texas governor. Sign the petition to save the young brother's life if you are moved to do so.
Methinks that Kenneth Foster's legal team needs to make a call to Mary Winkler's legal team for some tips!

Wayne, I read this in Eddie Griffin's petition letter for Kenneth Foster:
Federal District Judge Royal Furgeson who overturned Foster's death sentence in 2005 recognized, “There was no evidence before Foster's sentencing jury which would have supported a finding that Foster either actually killed LaHood or that Foster intended to kill LaHood or another person.”
What am I missing? If his death sentence was overturned why is Kenneth Foster about to die?
Teach --> Why? That is the question. The only answer that makes sense to me is a simplistic one --> Texas is a bloodthirsty state. I hope that commonsense prevails at some point in this young man's case.

wow. ain't this bout a mutha...?
yeah i want to know too...why is he scheduled to die on august 30 if his death sentence was overturned? geesh. black man can't get a break.
This is the kind of thing that makes me furious at the world I live in.
What an amazing blog.
Muze & Emma - We live in unusual times. Hat tip to Eddie Griffin for letting us know about the situation with Kenneth Foster down in Texas. Hopefully, things will improve.

Wow. As always, very enlightening information. Thank you for sharing this.
Wayne, it's a sad world we live in when 'justice' is handed out so arbitrarily. It's stories like this that point out so clearly that we are not a cohesive nation, but a nation that is so very fractured and unless we fix the problem first then we'll always be fixing the blame. Government must be ascribing to the 'divide and conquer' method so as to keep its' citizens from achieving the greatness that they so richly deserve and thusly make them more dependent on, you guessed it, the same government that fouls everything up. It makes me want to puke. Great article. I'll be signing the petition, post haste.
I do not know the stories on each of the cases, but could the sentence be due to the priors each offender had/ the reasons and method of murder?
just thoughts.
This is totally "out of order". Wonder why we're not getting any media coverage about it? I live in Texas and this is the first I've heard of Kenneth Foster's case. That's why I want to bang my head against a wall whenever I hear delusional people talk about how we don't live in a racist society.
