Is It Time for 'Clinton Myth' to End?

The Afrosphere Action Coalition announced that Tuesday, March 25, 2008 would be a Day of Blogging for Voter Justice. Politico.com agrees with us as evidenced by their recent post on 'The Clinton Myth' where they wrote,

One big fact has largely been lost in the recent coverage of the Democratic presidential race: Hillary Rodham Clinton has virtually no chance of winning.

Her own campaign acknowledges there is no way that she will finish ahead in pledged delegates. That means the only way she wins is if Democratic superdelegates are ready to risk a backlash of historic proportions from the party's most reliable constituency.

Unless Clinton is able to at least win the primary popular vote -- which also would take nothing less than an electoral miracle -- and use that achievement to pressure superdelegates, she has only one scenario for victory. An African American opponent and his backers would be told that, even though he won the contest with voters, the prize is going to someone else.

Do you agree that it is time to unify the Democratic Party? If so, we ask that you sign our online petition. If you are a blogger, we ask you to identify yourself with the AAC so we can provide link to your blog on Tuesday.

It appears that Daily Kos sees the writing on the wall as well. What say u?

Signed the petition but doubt that the petition will make any difference.

I don't think we should tolerate another election result like in 2000 when Al Gore won the popular vote, but the Supreme Court awarded the victory to Bush....maybe we should have been more vociferous...one time, shame on you, two times, shame on me....onward to an Obama victory in both the primaries and the nationals! And, oh hell...if we have to march, then let us do it. Enough is enough!

By the way, March 24th is the last day for unregistered folks to sign up for the primaries in PA...anybody making some calls?

Peace

One last thought as I read comments on Villager's blog...the more we play to the "typical white person" or typical black person, the more we play to the political game being waged during this democratic primary election.

Let's stop and get back to the issues that touch us all! Obama isn't about being black, but about being RIGHT for our country. Like he said, we can retreat to our corners, or join together to move forward.

Peace.

Kat - We shared the information on Pennsylvania voter registration on our Proud Black Voter blog.

re: Petition. It may or may not make a difference. I'm glad you signed it. I think that it is an effort on the part of some of us online activists to begin to unify the Democratic Party under Obama. It gives us an organized manner to express our desire for Hillary Clinton to concede the election...

You see Kat, for some of us race does touch us. But it doesn't touch the majority (all) so therefore its not an issue worth discussing huh?

Hey Villager.

First of all, in response to your response several issues ago, yep this is indeed me. Bro Keith from Detroit. And yes, I am definitely working to get the Spot back up and running soon. Time to get back on the horse.

And is it time for the Clinton myth to end? Without question. But more importantly, it's time for somebody to force Clinto to realize that her myth is over. Anybody who's been paying attention has seen what's happening. As the article you referenced from Politico said, it's virtually mathematically impossible for her to win. But still she refuses to die. Instead she would apparently prefer to destroy the presidential possibility of the best chance for a black president this country has ever seen and is ever likely to see for a long, long time. And while she's at it she apparently doesn't mind bringing down the Democratic Party as well.

The selfishness and arrogance of this woman are remarkable to observe.

Keith - I agree with you. However, I'm hopeful that the voters in North Carolina, Indiana (if not Pennsylvania) will give her the message. That would be the best way to get it done right now...

re: Kilpatrick. Do you know if Kwame and his congressional Mom are supporters of Hillary? or Obama?

Keith A. Owens said...

Villager,

I don't know where Kwame is on Barack. He's remained pretty much mum on that subject. I'm pretty sure his mother is for Hillary, as are too many of the CBC. She hasn't come out and said it direct, but certain things she has said about the Michigan recount and other issues have essentially made the code clear.

As for reading the teal leaves in Pennsylvania, N. Carolina, etc., you may be right. However I think it is important to continue to emphasize that this emphasis on Pennsylvania, as if it is her last chance, is a charade. She has no chance, unless the super delegates decide to overthrow the will of the people. Even if she wins each and every remaining state, she would have to do so by over 65 percent to become competitive, and even then she wouldn't be ahead. She'd just be in striking distance.

All - 1,130 signatures on the online petition! Thank you to each of you that supported this effort. It appears that the MSM picked up on the Hillary Should Concede Now storyline as well...

Keith - It turns out that Kwame is a superdelegate committed to Obama. Dayum ... one less delegate vote for Obama if/when Kwame resigns...
