Over a thousand people have taken the oath of office as governor a state in America. Only three of them were African American.
- P.B.S. Pinchback (Louisiana, 1870-1872)
- Douglas Wilder (Virginia, 1990-1994)
- Deval Patrick (Massachusetts, 2006-Present)
David Paterson will become the fourth Black person in our nation's history to be the chief executive officer of their state. This is truly a remarkable accomplishment that should make all villagers proud!

Interesting article, I had no idea.
It's sad people can't get to take on high political roles because of their race. That's one area in which US could take a lesson from Canada , look at our Governor General (she's from Haiti) or our (former?) BC premier...
Anyway, thanks for having taught me something new today. Happy WW!
got a new wrinkle in my brain to go with ww.
happy ww!
For me a skin color doesn't count I don't even see it. Even if the person had zebra stripes.
Let's hope the next president is too...go Obama!
From what I read, the next in line in NY is a good one.
Happy WW!
Great post!
It's a shame that's such a small group. Hopefully our children will see a much larger photo array.
Happy WW! :D
Good to know. Thanks for the info.
Happy WW!
I'm hoping the next president is too! GO OBAMA!!!
Still making history. The world will open their eyes slowly and realize we aren't just music and movies.
very informative, thanks for sharing
Great to know, thanks for sharing. It seems that Obama has won the Mississipi primary, so that's one closer to adding one more name in your list. Happy WW.
Very interesting. Thanks for the scoop.
Maybe we're finally shedding the color and looking at the person. I hate that it's so late in doing so.
Thank you for sharing this. I had no idea either :)
Thanx for the lesson. Interesting.
Living in a multi-racial country, we have leaders of all colours to represent the different races.
And an interesting sight in Singapore, we have Muslim mosques, Indian temples and Chinese shrines built next to one another!
if we could all only learn to see thru the eyes of a child...
nice post --life goes on we just do our best
That would be great!
An insightful post.. as always. :o)
Great post and I am pleased for Mr. Patterson. A Black Gov. in my hometown? Wow is all I can say thought the circumstances were tacky.
This seems to be quite racist. They're only worth posting about because they're black? Open your eyes and realize that racism is NOT NOT NOT a white man's disease and I'm sick and tired of being discriminated against!
Hope the group of pictures will be larger in the future! Great WW!
Thanks for an interesting post!I think no matter what color of skin we have,we are all equal.
Great Info! Most people don't know this (including me!) :D
Very interesting post. I had no idea that there have only been 3 African Americans.
