This Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 photograph provided by the Colorado National Monument shows a 1987 Dodge van that got stuck on a rock overhang , near Grand Junction, Colo., after the driver sent the vehicle off a cliff in an apparent suicide attempt. The 34-year-old male driver survived the incident. But park officials said that 27 people attempted suicide at the national monument last year, which has prompted administrators to train staff at entrances and visitor centers in suicide prevention.
People think of it as returning their bodies to nature or ending it all in a peaceful, beautiful place. Maybe. But consider the fact that some vacation family or scout troop, or gaggle of bird watchers might be the one to find your remains or you in state of fail suicide. That's traumatic and potentiall scarring, especially to a young person
What an incredible picture. It's a shame that people are turning to suicide. This type of rescue obviously puts emergency personal in harm's way as well. GG (My Journey)

This is a real problem. A former professor and advisor of mine did the same thing last year - in the Canyon Lands.
