Family Wants to Know Why Taser-Happy Arlington Police Electrocuted Unarmed Man to Death

The friends and family of Adil Jouamai say he needed medical attention ... not a taser shock. The 32 year old husband, father and embassy security guard died early Friday morning after being tasered by Arlington Police. [SOURCE]

Adil learned that his father had been hospitalized back home in Morocco. This news upset Adil ... so, his family took him to the hospital to get medication to lower his blood pressure and calm him down.

Just after midnight ... he became agitated again. The family says they called for an ambulance ... but police showed up and asked the family to leave the apartment.

On Friday ... police said they found Jouamai naked, and uncooperative. Officers had to taser him to get him under control. Moments later he stopped breathing and died.

The penalty for being naked and uncooperative should not be death. Especially if there are multiple officers with an unarmed and unclothed victim. This is the second person killed by taser-happy police in Arlington VA.

Jouamai's family is asking why it was necessary to taser him. He was naked, unarmed and they claim there were as many as ten police officers in the room with him.

Taser Death: Adil Jouamai (Arlington, VA)

32-year old Adil Jouamai is dead after an Arlington County Police officer shocked him with a taser. Officers responded to reports of a psychiatric emergency at the Wildwood Park Apartments earlier today. Police said he did not live in the apartment but was visiting family there. It was a relative who called police after the man became distressed. Police say they found Jouamai inside the apartment when they arrived. [SOURCE]

The naked man refused all verbal commands and was combative with the officers, police say.

An unidentified officer then pumped Adil Jouamai with 50,000 volts of electricity from a taser gun. Moments later, officers noticed he was not breathing. Medics already on the scene took Jouamai to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

Police have not said whether Jouamai was armed. The incident remains under investigation.

This is the 2nd taser-related death in Arlington, VA in 2010. William Bumbrey was killed in January 2010.

Family Seeks Answers in Taser-Killing of William Bumbrey

William Bumbrey was in Virginia looking for medical assistance. It appears that he shoplifted a bar of soap in order to get cleaned up. He was trying to turn his life around. Instead, he was killed by an unidentifed police officer inside of the Pentagon City Metro station in Arlington VA.

His family is making a demand for the surveillance video inside the Pentagon City Metro station so that the truth about his death can be known.

"We believe that the video tape itself will be the best indicator of what took place that lead to the tasering and death of William Bumbrey," said Ted Williams, an attorney.

If the police had nothing to hide ... it seems that they would have made this video available already. Don't you think? Instead the police refuse to share the video with the family or the public.

Taser Death: William Bumbrey III (Arlington VA)

William Bumbrey III was at the Pentagon City Metro yesterday. An Arlington County police officer was in that metro station looking for a larceny suspect. The unidentified officer approached 36-year old Bumbrey. The officer didn't get the respect he wanted from the exchange ... so he pulled out his taser gun and pumped 50,000 volts of deadling electricity into the unidentified man.

At that point, the police say that a second unidentified officer arrived on scene and assisted handcuffing Bumbrey. The officers called for medics who transported him to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The unidentified police officers have been placed on suspension until the investigation is complete.

One thing that I noticed about this taser-related death as it has been reported in the mainstream media is the demonization of Mr. Bumbrey. He has been described as a 'larceny suspect' and a 'sex offender' and a 'shop lifter'. It doesn't appear that the media has picked up on the idea that the penalty for shoplifting should never be DEATH-by-Taser.
