Video of the Day: Mitt Romney Offers a $10,000 Bet to Rick Perry

Do you remember the last time that you made a $10,000 bet on national television? If your name is Mitt Romney ... then it was earlier tonight! Romney put his hand out to Rick Perry suggesting that they make a $10,000 bet on some words in his book...

All of a sudden this photo from Mitt's past doesn't seem so far-fetched anymore:

I think that Mitt Romney may have lost his chance for the presidency tonight. His $10k bet has already spawned its own Twitter account --> @Bet10k

Video of the Day: Rick Perry is an Intellectual Midget

I guess it's fair to say that Rick Perry just lost any chance he had to win the Republican nomination for president. In fact, Rick Perry may now replace Dan Quayle as the biggest dummy to ever run for the presidency ... with honorable mention to Sarah Palin.

It turns out the the Department of Energy was the third agency that Rick Perry was trying to remember.

Do you see any future for Rick Perry?

Video of the Day: Rick Perry is Dazed and Confused

'Sheriff' Rick Perry wants to be the President of the United States. He wants to be on the world stage as the face of our nation. Check out this video and let me know if this is the image that America needs for the next 4 years.

Was that Rick Perry being Rick Perry? Or do you think he was drunk?

Herman Cain Hypnotizes His Opponents with the 9-9-9 Plan

I watched most of the GOP debate that was on the Bloomberg channel earlier this week. A couple of things stood out for me:
  • Rick Perry is truly unprepared for prime time.  You have to begin to wonder what the people of Texas were thinking when they elected him to political office.  He has looked lousy in all four debates so far.
  • Mitt Romney is an experienced debater.  However, it appears that his positive debate performances still haven't brought him much love from the GOP primary voters.
  • Herman Cain made a winning decision when he began to focus on his so-called '9-9-9' economic plan.  Every GOP candidate in the debate seemed to have something to say about it.   Accordingly to the following video the word, 'nine' was mentioned 85 times during the debate!

Do you think that Herman Cain has a chance to win any of the Republican primaries this year?

Ain't No 'Niggerhead' Presidential Candidate Worthy of Our Vote; Rick Perry Should Seek to Eliminate the N-Word!

I 'spose that Herman Cain will think that I'm 'brainwashed' for thinking that its not cool for a presidential candidate to bring his family to a vacation lodge known by the locals as 'Niggerhead'. The Washington Post reported the following:
Ranchers who once grazed cattle on the 1,070-acre parcel on the Clear Fork of the Brazos River called it by that name well before Perry and his father, Ray, began hunting there in the early 1980s. There is no definitive account of when the rock first appeared on the property. In an earlier time, the name on the rock was often given to mountains and creeks and rock outcroppings across the country. Over the years, civil rights groups and government agencies have had some success changing those and other racially offensive names that dotted the nation’s maps.

But the name of this particular parcel did not change for years after it became associated with Rick Perry, first as a private citizen, then as a state official and finally as Texas governor. Some locals still call it that. As recently as this summer, the slablike rock — lying flat, the name still faintly visible beneath a coat of white paint — remained by the gated entrance to the camp.
Not cool. I don't want the leader of my nation to be so insensitive to the impact of the N-Word on African Americans. Even Herman Cain realizes that there is absolutely no place in the White House for a man who feels comfortable hunting and relaxing at a place known by that name.

Rick Perry should join us in working to eliminate the 'N-Word'.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott Predicts Herman Cain Will Win Presidency

It's simple math. 1 + 1 = 2

1. Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL) indicated that the winner of today's Florida Straw Poll would become the next president of the United States. [SOURCE]

1. Herman Cain is the upset winner of the Florida Straw Poll with 37 percent of the vote out of 2,657 ballots cast.

2. Therefore, Gov. Scott predicts Herman Cain is our next President of the United States.

I don't know if Scott is going to be prophetic. I do know that Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) was expecting to win this straw poll down in Florida. However, he did such a lousy job in recent GOP presidential debates ... that many of his supporters switched over to other candidates, including Cain.

The other surprise was that Michelle Bachmann came in DEAD LAST in the 7-person field. That would seem to put a nail in her coffin as a presidential candidate.

I imagine that the person who is in the background smiling about all of this is Mitt Romney. Anything that weakens Rick Perry is a positive thing for Mitt Romney.

Congratulations to Herman Cain for sticking around ... let's see if it results in better fundraising support for him over the coming days and weeks.

Anyone Can Criticize President Barack Obama -- Just Do It With Respect

One of my blogging colleagues -- Aaron Laramore (A Political Season) -- recently said on his blog, "Tavis and Cornel Have One Thing Right...Black People Can & Should Criticize Obama". In the blog post Bro. Laramore noted,
"I voted for Obama, gave money, canvassed my neighborhood. I want him to be a successful president. But he is not the leader we expected him to be. His walk vastly underperforms his talk, routinely. I routinely encounter Blacks online and off who contend that as Blacks we should support him no matter what because he is Black, irrespective of whether he is doing a good job or not. My brothers and sisters, is that really what you mean? I don't think Rosa and King and Malcolm and Medgar and all the other civil rights heroes sacrificed so that we could live in an America where we have to support a Brother no matter how he performs. They fought for an America where we CAN be judged on our merits, on our results..."
I didn't have any problem with Aaron's message. He was able to express his disapproval of the President without using provacative and unwarranted language the way that Tavis and Cornel have been doing in recent months.

Tavis and Cornel try to raise their own profile in the media and in the white community by attacking Obama in a way that sounds similiar to the rantings of Tea Party activists around the nation. That is the issue that I hear most often in my discussions with other Black folks online and offline.

In fact, I don't hear many Blacks blindly supporting the president. Many Blacks that I talk to are disappointed in the unemployment numbers in the Black community ... they are disappointed in the fact that America is still in two major wars ... they are disappointed in the fact that the so-called 'post-racial' era that everyone saw on the horizon when Barack Obama was elected in 2008 hasn't taken hold. In fact, it seems quite the opposite. You don't have to be a racism-chaser to see racism in both words and deeds on a daily basis in America.

However, elections are all about context. Barack Obama won't be running against our expectations. He will be running against a man (or woman) from the Republican Party ... likely Mitt Romney or Sheriff Perry from Texas. I suspect that an overwhelming number of Black folks who go to the polls in 2012 will compare the idea of having Barack Obama (and his family) in the White House from 2013-2016 against the idea of having a man (Romney) who doesn't appear to have ever hired or worked with a Black person in his life *or* a man (Sheriff Perry) who takes pride in approving the death penalty against 260+ people (mostly Black). When they make that comparison they will vote for the re-election of a decent and highly intelligent Barack Obama for another four years as President of the United States.

I don't begrudge anyone ... including the Black community ... from criticizing Barack Obama. It would be nice if they could do so in a respectful manner and if they could do so in a fair and balanced manner.

Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) May Go Civil War On America and Pull Texas Out of the Union

I must admit that I didn't pay much attention to the Tea Parties taking place around the country today. I figured it was primarily a bunch of noise from rich Republicans and the Fox Network. However, it seems that Texas governor Rick Perry was feeling very comfortable with the Texas Tea Party.

The folks at Texas Politics blog provided this audio-tape of Gov. Perry indicating that he wouldn't be against Texas pulling out of the Union. Listen to Gov. Perry for yourself:

Speaking with reporters after a tea party rally in Austin today, Gov. Rick Perry said Texas can leave the union if it wants to:
"Texas is a unique place. When we came into the union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that," Perry said. "My hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention. We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, who knows what may come of that."
Perry also was asked whether the tea party anti-tax rallies are part of a growing national movement.
"I have never seen the power of the grassroots as antimated and as focused and as coordinated...It is a very powerful moment in American history.

"I would suggest that members of congress who are filing for election or re-election in eight months are listening."

"They're hearing everyday working folks saying, 'Listen, it's out of control. We're trying to live our lives and you're strangling us with your spending and your taxation
."
Is the anger and frustration of the Republican Party so strong against the Obama administration that they are actually talking about pulling out some Confederate Civil War strategy in the 21st century?

Kenneth Foster Will Live!

The brother made some bad decisions as a youth. However, he didn't deserve to lose his life at the hands of the state for a crime in which he didn't have the gun that took the life. He does deserve to be in jail for a very long time. Texas governor Rick Perry felt the same way. As a result, Kenneth Foster will live.
In a last ditch appeal from supporters around the world to save Foster's life, along with recommendations from the Texas Pardons and Parole Board, Gov. Perry stayed the execution, that had been set to take place tonight ... he commuted Foster's sentence to life.

"After carefully considering the facts of this case, along with the recommendation from the Board of Pardons and Paroles, I believe the right and just decision is to commute Foster's sentence from the death penalty to life imprisonment," Perry said in a statement.

"I am concerned about Texas law that allowed capital murder defendants to be tried simultaneously and it is an issue I think the legislature should examine."

The AfroSpear caused me to make a phone call earlier this morning to the governor's office. I spoke with a harried receptionist who asked if I was in favor or against the execution. She indicated that she was keeping a "tally". Evidently, the tally was part of the flow of information to the governor that made the difference. Kenneth Foster should be glad that this Texas governor isn't running for president. The last Texas governor to run for president didn't have that level of compassion or reason.

Anyhow, much love to Eddie Griffin for leading the charge here in the afrosphere to raise this issue to an international audience.
Shaquanda Cotton, Hot Ghetto Mess, Kenneth Foster. When the history is told by cyberspace griots in the future it appears that we will have many positive moments to reflect on. Kenneth Foster being alive should be part of our cyberspace griot's story.

Please take a moment to share your thoughts on this case and today's outcome!
