'White Privilege' Not Enough to Carry Mitt Romney Into the White House

Mitt Romney is quickly turning out to be one of the worst presidential candidates in the history of the United States. It is also looking more and more like Mitt Romney and his family suffer from a serious case of 'white privilege'. They thought that they deserved to be living in the White House ... and it appears that they were truly stunned when President Barack Obama won the 2012 presidential election.

Now the Romney family is making excuses for the loss. One of the Romney sons, Tagg, tells us that his dad wasn't interested in winning the presidential campaign. [SOURCE]
"He wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life. He had no desire to ... run," said Tagg — who worked with his mother to persuade Mitt to run for President of the United States. "If he could have found someone else to take his place ... he would have been ecstatic to step aside. He is a very private person who loves his family deeply and wants to be with them, but he has deep faith in God and he loves his country, but he doesn’t love the attention."
Mitt Romney does have his millions of dollars hidden in those off-shore bank accounts to comfort him ... so there is no need to feel sorry for the guy. Hopefully, his wife, Ann, has stopped crying over the loss ... and she can help the guy comb his hair in the morning!

Why Won't Mitt Romney Fire John Sununu for Racist Remarks on Colin Powell?

The sad influence of racism continues to show itself in the presidential campaign. Colin Powell is a true American hero. At one point he had a legitimate to be the President of the United States.  He retired as a 4-star general before accepting a presidential appointment as our nation's Secretary of State. He is a quiet and well-reasoned leader.

None of this matters to former New Hampshire governor John Sununu ... who serves as one of the loudest surrogates for Mitt Romney. Sununu felt the power of his white privilege enough to tell a national television audience that race motivated Colin Powell's endorsement of President Obama.  Sununu discounted all of the qualifications of Colin Powell and theorized that his endorsement of Barack Obama was strictly tribal in nature:
"When you take a look at Colin Powell, you have to look at whether that's an endorsement based on issues or he's got a slightly different reason for endorsing President Obama."

He added: "I think when you have somebody of your own race that you're proud of being president of the United States, I applaud Colin for standing with him."
Powell -- who also backed Obama in 2008 -- made his endorsement of a second term on Thursday, an an appearance on CBS' This Morning.

Powell said that the nation is recovering from the severe recession that Obama inherited.
"I see that we are starting to rise up," Powell said. "I also saw the President get us out of one war, start to get us out of a second war and did not get us into any new wars. And finally, I think that the actions he's taken with respect to protecting us from terrorism have been very, very solid."
It is tiring to continually have to watch the subtle and not-so-subtle use of the race card by Mitt Romney and his minions. They have written off any chance of appealing to voters of color ... and they are doubling down on the idea that it will take a massive turn-out by white folks, primarily white men, for Romney to win the presidency.

Sununu should be asked to step down from his prominent role as a Romney minion. His racially-motivated strategies and words disqualify him. Don't you agree?

Actors for Obama: Morgan Freeman

I must admit that I'm not a huge fan of Morgan Freeman. He said some things in the past that rubbed me the wrong way. However, I just saw this pro-Obama ad that he shared recently on 'The Conan Show' and I must admit that I'm feeling a little better about this award-winning actor.

Did you smile?

Romney: 'My Job is Not to Worry About THOSE People'

Mitt Romney has a mindset that simply isn't fit for leadership of our nation. He feels that 47% of American are moochers, freeloaders and losers. They aren't worthy of his attention and he has written them off as Obama supporters. Ann Romney wasted her breath during the Republican National Convention.  Even she can't make this 'Thurston Howell' character lovable.

During a private fundraiser earlier this year, Romney told a small group of millionaires what he truly thinks of all the voters who support Obama. A donor asked how he could triumph in November, Romney replied:
"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax."
Romney went on: "[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

Soulclap to Mother Jones for bringing this story to light.

When given a chance to retract his statements ... he chose not to do so.

"'Man from Bloomfield Hills' -- The Mitt Romney Story

A number of folks have criticized the Republican Party because that they didn't show a number of great documentaries about Mitt Romney during that prime-time slot on the last night of their national convention. As a result, many 'villagers' may have missed them. I never want my blog readers to miss out on opportunities to learn more about the presidential candidates ...

... so here is the 'mock'-umentary entitled, "The Man From Bloomfield Hills: The Mitt Romney Story".

The Romney-Ryan-Akin Platform for Women

Any of us that are checking out the 2012 presidential elections have to think that it is very difficult for any woman to vote in favor of the GOP. Here is video that puts many of the odd positions of Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and Todd Akin in focus.

Can Mitt Romney Win Presidency With Zero Support From Black Community?

Mitt Romney has a difficult time getting votes from women and Hispanics ... but, his problems getting voting support from the Black community hit an all-time low based on NBC/WSJ poll showing that ZERO PERCENT of the Black electorate [SOURCE]

NBC News breaks down the polls as follows:
- Obama continues to lead Romney among key parts of his political base, including African Americans (94 percent to 0 percent), Latinos (by a 2-to-1 margin), voters under 35-years-old (52 percent to 41 percent) and women (51 percent to 41 percent).

- Romney is ahead with whites (53 percent to 40 percent), rural voters (47 percent to 38 percent) and seniors (49 percent to 41 percent).

- And the two presidential candidates are essentially even when it comes to the swing groups of suburban voters, Midwest residents and political independents.
It appears that folks like Artur Davis, Clarence Thomas, Allen West and Cornel West and their ilk are statistical insignificant in current polls.

Racism Runs Rampant on Both Romney's Team and the Greek Olympic Team

I joined Pinterest last month. It is a social network that allows you to post photos on 'boards' that you create in areas that interest you. One of my boards is called 'Racism in America'.

Who knew that my board was too restrictive. Racism is running rampant in Europe as well.

Today we learned that an adviser to the Romney campaign suggested the Republican hopeful was better able to navigate the “special relationship” between the United States and England because of his understanding of “Anglo-Saxon heritage.” [SOURCE]

I guess that Anglo-Saxon heritage is a white supremacist homonym used in Europe.
“We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage, and he feels that the special relationship is special,” the unnamed adviser said, according to the report in the Daily Telegraph. “The White House didn’t fully appreciate the shared history we have.”
Mittens didn't deny the report.
“I’m generally not enthusiastic about adopting the comments made by people who are unnamed. I have a lot of advisers,” Romney said. “I’m not sure who this person is … So, I don’t agree with whoever that advisor might be.”
The Romney campaign wasn't the only one with racist foot-in-mouth disease today.

Triple jumper Voula Papachristou was expelled from Greece's Olympic team for her comments on Twitter mocking African immigrants and expressing support for a far-right party.

Commenting on the widely reported appearance of Nile-virus-carrying mosquitoes in Athens, Papachristou wrote:
"With so many Africans in Greece, the West Nile mosquitoes will be getting home food!!!"
The Hellenic Olympic Committee kicked Papachristou from the team "for statements contrary to the values and ideas of the Olympic movement."

So ... this woman trains hard for YEARS to represent her country ... she fine-tunes her skills so that she is the best in her nation and one of the best in the world ... she is within a few days of being on a worldwide stage ... and in 140 characters or less she managed to screw it all up.

Racism is a sickness that makes you do and say things that are simply dumb! Hope she has Greek cable TV subscription so she can watch the Olympics on her couch!

I also hope that Mittens can get a backbone like the Hellenic Olympic Committee and locate the racist nit on his staff who made the 'anglo-saxan' comment. That guy needs to get kicked off the team as well!

Mitt Romney Dances Around His Policy Mistake re: Detroit and the Auto Industry

President Obama had a big advantage over Hillary Clinton in 2008 because of the stark contrast in their position on the Iraq War. I think that Obama has a similiar edge on Mitt Romney because of the stark contrast on the issue of auto bailouts. Mitt wanted Detroit to go bankrupt. Obama wanted to save the auto industry. Mitt tries to dance around his policy mistake as shown in this video:

Mitt Continues to Dance Around His Secrecy Issues

Mitt Romney and the Romney's dressage horse Rafalca, dancing around the issue of secrecy. Why do you think that Romney is so afraid to release his tax returns? What is he hiding?

Even Republicans Agree: Mitt Romney is Hiding Something

Mitt Romney and his team know what is in his tax returns for the past 7-10 years. They have made a calculation that whatever negative press that they are getting for being secretive is not as bad as it would be if the tax returns were released. That is my take on things.

GOP leaders are getting worried as you can tell from this video:

That punchline at the end is devastating! John McCain had 23 years of tax returns from Mitt Romney during the 2008 presidential campaign as he was vetting vice president candidates. Upon reviewing those returns ... McCain decided to pick Sarah Palin for his VP candidate. That says it all!

Past is Prologue: Barack Obama vs. Mitt Romney

Often you can tell a lot about a person today by looking at how the person was 'back in the day'. For example, we can look at Mitt Romney in this photo with his Bain partners from 'back in the day' and it is obvious that he has an obsession for money.

On the other hand, we can tell an awful lot about President Barack Obama by listening to him in this 1990 video as he speaks (without a teleprompter) in support of Professor Derek Bell and the hiring of more faculty members of color at Harvard University. [SOURCE]

Video of the Day: Mitt Romney Offers a $10,000 Bet to Rick Perry

Do you remember the last time that you made a $10,000 bet on national television? If your name is Mitt Romney ... then it was earlier tonight! Romney put his hand out to Rick Perry suggesting that they make a $10,000 bet on some words in his book...

All of a sudden this photo from Mitt's past doesn't seem so far-fetched anymore:

I think that Mitt Romney may have lost his chance for the presidency tonight. His $10k bet has already spawned its own Twitter account --> @Bet10k

WTF?! Herman Cain Leads Both Romney and Perry in Latest Poll Results

Mitt Romney must be scratching his head right about now.   He has been running for the presidential nomination of the Republican Party for over five years now and he can't seem to get any love.

Today we learn that Romney isn't even the "front-runner" any longer.   At least according to the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll that named Herman Cain the front-runner for the Republican nomination in 2012. According to the poll 27 percent of Republican voters surveyed made Cain their first choice, and Mitt Romney dropped down to second place with 23 percent.

Do you have any idea why Cain is rising and Romney is stagnant in these latest polls?

Herman Cain Hypnotizes His Opponents with the 9-9-9 Plan

I watched most of the GOP debate that was on the Bloomberg channel earlier this week. A couple of things stood out for me:
  • Rick Perry is truly unprepared for prime time.  You have to begin to wonder what the people of Texas were thinking when they elected him to political office.  He has looked lousy in all four debates so far.
  • Mitt Romney is an experienced debater.  However, it appears that his positive debate performances still haven't brought him much love from the GOP primary voters.
  • Herman Cain made a winning decision when he began to focus on his so-called '9-9-9' economic plan.  Every GOP candidate in the debate seemed to have something to say about it.   Accordingly to the following video the word, 'nine' was mentioned 85 times during the debate!

Do you think that Herman Cain has a chance to win any of the Republican primaries this year?

Anyone Can Criticize President Barack Obama -- Just Do It With Respect

One of my blogging colleagues -- Aaron Laramore (A Political Season) -- recently said on his blog, "Tavis and Cornel Have One Thing Right...Black People Can & Should Criticize Obama". In the blog post Bro. Laramore noted,
"I voted for Obama, gave money, canvassed my neighborhood. I want him to be a successful president. But he is not the leader we expected him to be. His walk vastly underperforms his talk, routinely. I routinely encounter Blacks online and off who contend that as Blacks we should support him no matter what because he is Black, irrespective of whether he is doing a good job or not. My brothers and sisters, is that really what you mean? I don't think Rosa and King and Malcolm and Medgar and all the other civil rights heroes sacrificed so that we could live in an America where we have to support a Brother no matter how he performs. They fought for an America where we CAN be judged on our merits, on our results..."
I didn't have any problem with Aaron's message. He was able to express his disapproval of the President without using provacative and unwarranted language the way that Tavis and Cornel have been doing in recent months.

Tavis and Cornel try to raise their own profile in the media and in the white community by attacking Obama in a way that sounds similiar to the rantings of Tea Party activists around the nation. That is the issue that I hear most often in my discussions with other Black folks online and offline.

In fact, I don't hear many Blacks blindly supporting the president. Many Blacks that I talk to are disappointed in the unemployment numbers in the Black community ... they are disappointed in the fact that America is still in two major wars ... they are disappointed in the fact that the so-called 'post-racial' era that everyone saw on the horizon when Barack Obama was elected in 2008 hasn't taken hold. In fact, it seems quite the opposite. You don't have to be a racism-chaser to see racism in both words and deeds on a daily basis in America.

However, elections are all about context. Barack Obama won't be running against our expectations. He will be running against a man (or woman) from the Republican Party ... likely Mitt Romney or Sheriff Perry from Texas. I suspect that an overwhelming number of Black folks who go to the polls in 2012 will compare the idea of having Barack Obama (and his family) in the White House from 2013-2016 against the idea of having a man (Romney) who doesn't appear to have ever hired or worked with a Black person in his life *or* a man (Sheriff Perry) who takes pride in approving the death penalty against 260+ people (mostly Black). When they make that comparison they will vote for the re-election of a decent and highly intelligent Barack Obama for another four years as President of the United States.

I don't begrudge anyone ... including the Black community ... from criticizing Barack Obama. It would be nice if they could do so in a respectful manner and if they could do so in a fair and balanced manner.
