Amazing African Photos

The Electronic Village provides a cyberspace experience of village elders sitting at the baobob tree exchanging information and wisdom with others that live and visit our village. However, the White African blog shared these amazing photos of the real deal and I wanted all Villagers to have a chance to check 'em out!

That is why I use this 'Blog Safari' format to provide villagers with links to these talented bloggers and creative blog posts. Jena 6 Myths and Myth-Busters

'Only when lions get to write history, will hunters cease to be heroes'. That is an African proverb that seems to describe the current situation in the mainstream media and the white-controlled blogosphere. Both groups are working overtime to re-write history as it relates to the Jena Six case.

Both groups have given wide marketing to a local reporter from Jena, LA area who woke up one day and decided that he needed to add his spin on the facts.

"The media got most of the basics wrong," he writes. "In fact, I have never before witnessed such a disgrace in professional journalism. Myths replaced facts, and journalists abdicated their solemn duty to investigate every claim because they were seduced by a powerfully appealing but false narrative of racial injustice."

The Jena reporter provides his take on a dozen points from the Jena Six storyline:

  • Myth 1: The Whites-Only Tree.
  • Myth 2: Nooses a Signal to Black Students.
  • Myth 3: Nooses Were a Hate Crime.
  • Myth 4: DA's Threat to Black Students.
  • Myth 5: The Fair Barn Party Incident.
  • Myth 6: The "Gotta-Go" Grocery Incident.
  • Myth 7: The Schoolyard Fight.
  • Myth 8: The Attack Is Linked to the Nooses.
  • Myth 9: Mychal Bell's All-White Jury.
  • Myth 10: Jena 6 as Model Youth.
  • Myth 11: Jena Is One of the Most Racist Towns in America.
  • Myth 12: Two Levels of Justice.Myth 2: Nooses a Signal to Black Students.

Fortunately, we have some lions in the nubian regions of the blogosphere that are more than willing to bust the myths. I encourage all villagers that followed the Jena story to check out the myth-busting response by Prometheus 6.

The rhinos in our village love to run with lions such as Prometheus 6!

Wordless Wednesday: Rhinoceros Success

The secret of success is becoming a rhinoceros. Wake up each morning as a 6,000 pound rhino! No more sleeping in until the last possible moment. You are now a rhinoceros! At six in the morning, get out of bed like a rhinocerous; not a sloth! Take a quick shower, brush your horns, put on your rhino clothes and get ready to ... CHARGE!!

Charge massively and you will have massive success. Put everything you've got into everything you do. You are a rhino! There is nothing you cannot tackle. It is all or nothing for you. You are a charging rhino with your throttle to the floor, full blast ahead!
Luckily for you, you've got two-inch thick rhino skin, because your damn-the-torpedoes charging, you occassionally catch a torpedo or two. Never mind. You are a rhino! Your skin is so thick, you hardly feel them. They might knock your breath out once in awhile, but you are back on your feet, ready to charge again and madder than hell!

You are a thick-skinned, mad, charging rhino and the torpedoes will run out before you would ever go back to being a lazy, old cow in the pasture. KEEP CHARGING!

Villager is back!

The Villager is a'ight! I've been offline for a number of reasons. Sometimes my 2-inch rhino thick skin takes tremendous torpedo shots. The past couple of weeks have been rough for a number of reasons and it became difficult to keep my blog current. I appreciate the messages that I received from a number of villagers. It amazes me how close the Internet can bring us to people that we've never actually met in the 'real world'. In any case, I'm back. My hope is to get back on schedule with daily updates (at a minimum) to the Electronic Village.

There are so many issues impacting on us that need to be addressed in the coming days and weeks. AfroSpear is growing stronger and I hope to be a part of its continued development. Barack Obama is still running to become the most powerful brother on earth. Barry Bonds is getting closer to 755. My three children are getting closer to summer vacation. Despite the struggles that each of us experiences ... Life is Good!
