Somehow I've managed to miss the fact that Elon James White is still putting out his This Week in Blackness videos. In fact, when I saw the topic for this week's episode I thought perhaps I had messed up and gotten the dates wrong. After all, this week the big political news was the beat-down given to the Democratic Party in the mid-term elections ... what was Elon doing with his emphasis on the forgotten George W. Bush?
We are very pleased to see Elon James White maintaining his promise to deliver a weekly diatribe on Blackness. The episode this week focused on issues such as 'whites-only' basketball league and unlimited corporate contributions.
What are your thoughts on the basketball league? or the recent Supreme Court ruling?
Somehow we missed this episode when it came out last week. I hope that you are subscribed to Elon's YouTube channel so that you can get these immediately upon their release.
Anyhow, we are posting this episode for those villagers who depend on our blog to see Elon James White share his weekly monologue on current events.
This episode focuses on Elon's review of the recent MSNBC show about race in America. Check it out:
Did any of you actually watch the Chris Matthews' show that Elon references in this video?
Elon James White jumps all over Michael Eric Dyson's comment that Barack Obama "...runs from race like a Blackman runs from a cop".
Professor Dyson is the headliner for this week's episode, however, Elon drops a dime on a number of others including Pat Buchanan, Tavis Smiley, R. Kelly and Rod Blagojevich.
I encourage all villagers to take a few moments to enjoy the latest weekly (hopefully!) rant from Elon!
Did you enjoy it?What was your favorite part of this week's video?
Elon James White continues the new year with the 2nd episode of 'This Week in Blackness'. This episode focuses on the the word NEGRO. First Harry Reid dropped the word in closed door conversations and then it appears on the 2010 census form. Is the word NEGRO back to its full glory?
Have you ever joined with our villagers on a blog safari? If not, perhaps now is the time. Our rhino-guide (she still needs a name!) wants to take you through the cyber-jungle to see some talented bloggers and creative blog posts. Enjoy the flow!!
I had to laugh today when he published a TWIB episode with a title that (sarcastically) indicates that our President is the worst-ever on the very same day that our President wins the 2009 Nobel Peace Price!
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the hilarous rantings of Elon James White in This Week in Blackness:
In Episode 3 of the 2nd Season of 'This Week in Blackness' Brooklyn Comedy Company's Elon James White discusses the Sarah Palin's sudden departure from politics and a possible new Black charismatic GOP Presidential hopeful.
Did you know that 58% of Black children can't swim? Did you know that Black children drown three times more often than white children?
These statistics would lead me to conclude that it is important for young Black children to learn how to swim. My two youngest take swimming lessons. They are both in summer programs that include weekly visits to community pool. They just returned from a trip to Jamaica where they enjoyed snorkling, swimming and just playing in the water.
Perhaps I wouldn't have these opportunities if we lived in Philadelphia.
"When the minority children got in the pool all of the Caucasian children immediately exited the pool," Horace Gibson, parent of a day camp child, wrote in an email. "The pool attendants came and told the black children that they did not allow minorities in the club and needed the children to leave immediately."
"Swimming pools were really the most intensely contested public space," said Jeff Wiltse, a University of Montana historian who studied municipal pools, where deep-seated emotions often created tortured logic to justify continued segregation.
Wiltse found that Blacks and whites routinely swam together in the late 1800s and early 1900s. That changed when the migration of large numbers of rural Southern Blacks to Northern states triggered a squeamishness among whites over sharing a pool with them.
The professed concern appeared to involve hygiene, and a notion that poor Blacks coming from a farming background would have lower standards of cleanliness. Even in public schools, swimming remained segregated long after all other scholastic activities were integrated.
Whatever ... it ain't right and we need to ensure that the folks at the Valley Club in Philadelphia pay a price for unleashing this racist behavior in 2009.
I encourage all villagers to contact The Valley Club. Ask to speak with club president John Duesler. Express your outrage!
Valley Swim Club Physical Address: 22 Tomlinson Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006
I'm very happy to report that Elon James White is back in the mix with his unique video commentary, This Week in Blackness. In this episode Elon discusses the BET Awards and the connection between BET and Black folks.
I consider myself lucky that I didn't watch the BET Awards Show last week. It appears to have been a waste of time. On the off chance that you missed it as well, here are the 7 best and worst moments from the show.
I also didn't have a clue about the identity of Frankie and Neffie until today. I guess it is clear that I'm no longer in the BETF demographic.
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the flow from Elon James White. I hope he gets back on a regular weekly schedule with his videos again this season!
We are happy to bring our villagers the season premiere of 'This Week in Blackness' Host Elon James White chops it up about the latest in Blackness and keeps the awesome flowing.
Elon James White shares Part 2-of-4 in his satirical review of 2008. In this installment he spends some time talking about two white women that dominated the political landscape in 2008 ... Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin.
Bro. White brings it strong. I think that my favorite part is when he de-mystifies the myth about Bill Clinton being the first Black president. What was your favorite part in this video?
Elon James White has been offline for awhile. Actually, he's been online here and here ... but, he hasn't produced an episode of 'This Week in Blackness' for about a month or so. The brother is back ... and he is producing a 4-part review of the entire year in Blackness.
Elon correctly tells us that the key player in 2008 is Barack Obama. No surprise. After all, if Obama was Time Magazine Man of the Year ... so why not continue his role with the folks at TWIB.
Check out TWIB Episode #14 for yourself:
I'm not gonna go stalk the jackal otherwise known as Alan Keyes ... but, if he ever comes to Cincinnati then I might kick him in the gonads just to get on Elon's show!Anyhow, what was your favorite part of the show?
We continue to enjoy promoting the comedy video series known as This Week in Blackness by Elon James White. Sit back and enjoy his satirical romp through the Black culture here in America.
Villagers, what is your take on Elon James White comedy sensibilities? What is your favorite episode of the 13 that currently exist?
The Electronic Village is proud to present the 12th installment of the series This Week in Blackness. In the latest episode Comedian Elon James White discusses the historic election and the outcome for Black folks.
We are supporting the comedic satire of Elon James White. However, we will talk with the brother about providing the work-friendly version of the weekly messages in the future. Anyhow, here is Episode #11 (uncensored version):
