UPDATE: National Enquirer's
latest revelations about Palin family.
Iya suggested that it is not good form to post information about the personal life of Sarah Palin on my blog. Of course, it was not good form for Sarah Palin to talk little about her plans for dealing with economic issues that dominate America's future during her convention speech instead of denigrating Barack Obama (and community organizers).
With apologies to Iya,
it is being reported by the National Enquirer that Sarah Palin had an affair with her husband Todd Palin’s business partner.
The McCain campaign has
vigorously denied the National Enquirer report.
McCain campaign spokesman said,
"The smearing of the Palin family must end. The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Governor Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie," said Mr Schmidt.
"The efforts of the media and tabloids to destroy this fine and accomplished public servant are a disgrace. The American people will reject it."
The National Enquirer has a reputation for digging dirt on politicians' lives. Villagers may recall that the magazine insisted that Democratic presidential candidate
John Edwards was having an extramarital affair and had had a child with his lover, while his wife was ill with breast cancer.
The allegations were denied for months until the National Enquirer finally published photos of
the duo meeting in a hotel in Los Angeles.
The National Enquirer responded to McCain Campaign as follows:
"The National Enquirer's coverage of a vicious war within Sarah Palin's extended family includes several newsworthy revelations, including the resulting incredible charge of an affair plus details of family strife when the Governor's daughter revealed her pregnancy. Following our John Edwards' exclusives, our political reporting has obviously proven to be more detail-oriented than the McCain campaign's vetting process. Despite the McCain camp's attempts to control press coverage they find unfavorable, The Enquirer will continue to pursue news on both sides of the political spectrum."
I recall that many Republicans were upset with folks for ignoring the story of Edwards' affair. How can these same Republicans justify asking everyone to hush up the story of possible Palin love affair?
