File photo from the 1950s shows jazz singer Lena Horne who was the first black performer to be signed to a long-term contract by a major Hollywood studio. She has died at the age of 92.

A couple of weeks ago, I watched her in the Wiz and then in an old episode of A Different World. A true icon...diva...beautiful...extraordinary Black woman! She will be missed!

SjP - I hope that Lena Horne felt the love of her fans while she was alive.

I never saw that Different World episode ... but, I have noticed A Different World reruns are back in re-runs when I do my male-induced surfing of the TV remote control (known as the 'clicker' in my homes!)...
