The justices refused to order the federal appeals court in Atlanta to examine Davis’ case and they declined to do so themselves.
In 2009, the high court ordered a federal judge to examine evidence Davis said would show he was innocent of the 1989 killing for which he has been sentenced to death.
But the judge decided last year that Davis had failed to clear his name. At the moment, executions are on hold in Georgia after federal agents seized the state’s supply of a key lethal injection drug.

I definitely agree that the death penalty is an abomination and this case is most definitely a TRAVESTY. I cannot even imagine what Troy Davis must be feeling and the roller coaster that his emotions must have been on leading up to this moment. I am not understanding the refusal to examine the evidence, but then again our legal "system" is not really JUSTICE for a large number of minorities...
My prayers continue to be with Mr. Davis and thank you Villager for staying vigilant with the case that many have overlooked, ignored or forgotten about.

Regina - It seems like there is always a new story of a person on death row being released because of new evidence, usually DNA evidence. That should be reason enough to end the practice of the death penalty. Is it worth it to keep a policy that may result in the death of an innocent man or woman?
