Abraham Lincoln Is Still Celebrating!

We have been sharing political cartoons about the 2008 presidential election results for a couple of months now. Many of the cartoons seem to have Abraham Lincoln included because of the hopes that all Americans have for President Obama to be considered as successful a leader as Lincoln. Do you think that Obama can live up to our hopes?

I do think that Obama can definitely live up to our hopes, but I also think we need to release that link between him and Lincoln. Ain't no way Lincoln would have been celebrating the election of a black president, and we know this.

yes he will as long as we keep the hopes realistic... we need to manage our own expectations.. this messiah nonsense grates on my nerves.. the man is a politician... he will never be able to please all the people all the time.. am glad he knows this.. am disturbed that some folk do not.. the next 4 years are not going to be a picnic..

Keith - I'll tone down the Lincoln connection after his birthday celebration (President's Day) later this month. I've been proud of Obama during the first 18 days of his presidency. He seems to be so much more engaged than GW Bush ever was...

Marci - I agree that he is not a messiah. However, he is our next-best hope for getting our nation out of its current doldrums. I hope he is able to make changes in the culture of Washington DC over the coming weeks and months. It will be hard to do with the entrenched special interests...
