Cornel West and Al Sharpton Rumble About Obama on MSNBC's Black Agenda

Two hours of my life were lost this past weekend watching Black Agenda, hosted by Ed Schultz, on MSNBC. I kept trying to understand why Ed Schultz was chosen to host the show.  Evidently others had the same concerns.  If any villager can explain why Schultz was the host ... please do so.

Anyhow, there wasn't much new territory covered on the show.  In many respects it seemed like a mini-version of the 'State of Black America' program that Tavis Smiley used to produce each year.   This time MSNBC tried valiantly to cover a number of the issues within the Black community that need to be addressed.

The most entertaining part of the show was also the saddest part. Did any of you see when Cornel West and Al Sharpton started playing the dozens with each other? If they had been sitting next to each other ... or if there wasn't a table in front of them ... then I think that the two old men would have come to blows.

You be the judge!

What was your take on this segment ... or the entire show?

I am beginning to see a pattern here, every now and then when the networks need a sideshow to help boost their ratings off of the backs of the concerns of the Black community, they wheel in the "in-house" certified Negroes who will perform according to their needs. It's the "WWF" of political television!

Judging from what I see from this to Donald Trump bitching about President Obama's birth certificate, this is going to be one hell of a sideshow of a Presidential race! Stock up on your popcorn people!

Here's a good one for you to check out:

Villager, here's how I see it. While these 2 Brothers are arguing over Obama, Oprah is making another billion...that is Black progress.

Lance - I enjoyed your post re: the circus show. I also think that it will be difficult for Tea Party and others in the Republican Party to contain their racial bias over the course of the next 18 months re: Obama. We're going to see a shyt-storm ... that is for sure.

Geoffry - I'm enjoying the poetry meme that you have going on with your blog this month. Keep it going! Perhaps Oprah will have you read some of your best stuff on her new television network!
