Taser Death: Lashano Gilbert (New London, CT)

It happened again! This time we learn that 31-year old Lashano Gilbert was killed by the taser-happy police officers of New London, CT.  [SOURCE]

Why do I call them "taser-happy"? Because they pumped 50,000 volts of electricity into this man once ... took him to the hospital ... brought him back to the jail ... then TASERED HIM AGAIN! They rushed him to the hospital the second time and he was pronounced dead in the emergency room. We don't know the names of the taser-happy police officers at the moment. All we know for sure is that an unarmed man in custody of the police is dead.

It appears that these unidentified police officers didn't like being disrespected in their own jail. They used their tasers to elicit some type of respect and it didn't work out quite the way that they expected ... a man died.

The young man was accused of car-jacking. The penalty for car-jacking isn't death. Someone needs to let the New London Police Department know that the pre-judicial electrocution of a prisoner isn't appropriate. Period.

We are friends of Lashano in Canada where he was residing and was only visiting his family in Connecticut. We will be assisting the NAACP to do a thorough investigation into his untimely death.
We will be contacting the NAACP momentarily.
