Jay-Z is a Punk
We heard the drumbeats from UltravioletUnderground about this video clip with a nationally known celebrity.
Villagers, does it appear that Jay-Z is pimp-slapping a young girl (pony-tail and all)? What could cause him to do something like this to a young girl in front of his posse? Any why didn't any of them come to her defense? Villagers, what say u?
I've seen this video many times and on each occasion, I ask myself why did he do it? What could this young woman have done to deserve getting mushed? Jay-Z seemed to do it with some level on annoyance and frustration as he seemed to mouth the words, "get the f**k outta here".
It seems all too common that celebs are allowed to conduct themselves in less than civil ways and instead of being called on their actions, it's seems celebrated. For as long as this video has been around, I've never heard any out cry or fall out from it.
It leads me to believe that the misogynistic behavior in our community is very much still alive and equally condoned.
Blu Jewel - Bad behavior shouldn't be tolerated in any situation ... especially with our Black sisters. And it doesn't matter if the person with the bad behavior is also Black or if he is a celebrity. These things stop when we, each of us, speaks out against it. Jay-Z is a punk. That is my take on this video clip and his action. I wonder what he has to say on the matter?
He's smacking/shoving/manhandling a woman. In public or in private, black, white or other, there is absolutely no excuse for such acts. Like villager said, he's a PUNK. I'm sorry that you had bad upbringing and that no one ever instilled in you the basics of civil conduct in our society, but you are still a punk.
Hillbilly - U aint never lied! Doesn't matter how much money is in your bank account, either. The actions of a punk shine through regardless of what zipcode you live in.
I agree, he is a punk. I wonder how many other women he's disrespected like that. I also wonder how he'd react if someone did that to one of the women in his family.
I'm glad to see so many commenta about his unmanly behavior especially since he is a celebrity. I am sorry to see comments that point to anything she could have said or done as if that in any way excuses his behavior. This is the only place I've seen this video however will share more broadly in hopes that more brothers will speak up and out to help get the word across that bad behavior is never acceptable in this community.
Celebrity status used to guarantee folks could do what they wanted. These comments say we're watching and don't accept disrespect from anyone any more. Anyone know if Jay-Z ever made a statement?
Boheminan Hippie Chick, Jacqui and Anon - Thank you for your comments. I've not heard of any response from Jay-Z. He's been on a mad chase for sales with release of the American Gangster soundtrack. I imagine that his PR people are working to suppress information about this video clip.
