Lindsay Lohan Calls Obama our First "Colored President"

Being rich and famous doesn't keep you from being ignorant. Lindsay Lohan used a derogatory term for African Americans most commonly used by racists rednecks.

It’s an amazing feeling. It’s our first, you know, colored president,” the 22-year-old actress said in response to a question from Maria Menounos on “Access Hollywood” about her reaction to Obama’s win in the 2008 presidential race.

The brain-dead starlet muttered the offensive term at the beginning of an interview about her role on “Ugly Betty,” gay marriage, and cancer research.

I suppose as a white woman she is without color or race. Depress the mute button this one is done.

DN & Renee - It is truly sad to realize that this actress is a role model...

Why do they just keep putting certain people in front of a microphone?

While conceding that Lindsay is not the brightest bulb on the tree, I might give her a little leeway in that a preferred choice by some is "people of color", the NAACP is "colored people" and if you say "black", "negro", or "African American", someone is likely to be offended by your choice. I think the intent of her statement, which was positive, should be considered as much as the term she used.

That's a shame! *shaking my head*

Jamie - You are a generous soul... or a big Lohan fan (smile). NAACP doesn't even say their full name any longer. In my view, the only excuse that I would have accepted is if it turned out she was born & raised in Australia where the term "coloured" is used routinely. However Lohan is simply a redneck with a blessed life...

Esquire & Miss Toya - Just goes to show that being famous doesn't make you smart...

If memory serves me correctly, she hijacked a car with some guys in it (one of which happened to be black) went on a high speed spree through LA with the police chasing. When the police finally stopped her she blamed "the black guy" for the whole thing

Tariq - I hadn't heard that story ... but, then again, Ms. Lohan isn't on my radar screen very much...

Hi there,

Her remark just reveals to the world that she has nointeraction with blacks whatsoever...

Should we be surprised?

Villager

Not a Lohan fan of any of the other "too much money, too many substances, and too little education" in the young Hollywood crowd. I just felt that since she blogged on her support for Obama during the campaign that a little generosity would be in order plus some education on the subject so that she didn't do it again.

Forgive me. I got a giggle out of this. The name is what it is. Not actually saying the name doesn't change it.

If it's a problem, they should either change the name, give the acronym new meaning, or adopt a silent weird symbol like Prince did (which almost plunged him into oblivion). hehe

For now, the "C" in NAACP means colored. And quite honestly, I see this as a major contributor to Blacks who don't see the NAACP as a relevant organization.

PS: I am inclined to agree with jamie that mercy may be in order for dippy Lindsay.

Have a great weekend!

I have to agree that Colored is not a derogatory term for us but it does show her lack of knowledge of current ethnic conventions. Barack is a man of color and depending on when your were born, you birth certificate may use the term colored on it. {Mine has Negro on it}

How oblivious is she? But then again, another side of my brain feel she might have said that as a publicity stunt - anything to get in the press.

Or she's still mad at the Obama camp when they said "thanks but no thanks" when she wanted to campaign for the candidate. Who knows!
