Morning in America

The vibe coming from the November 4th election was so powerful that we plan to remind all villagers about it each Tuesday thru the January 20th inauguration. Does it feel like a new day in America to you?

With all the hate crimes going on, not really.

You can still feel change in the air...
For some the change is good for some not so much! But it's still a change!

Villager,

In some ways I tend to feel like Mike. I'm still thrilled, and I will be for awhile. But these hate crimes remind me that it may not be only the dawn of a new day but the bitter death pangs of the old days. And all you have to do to see how bloody those death pangs can be is look back on the end of slavery (took a war, and then the Klan was born), or the height of the civil rights movement.

It's a new chapter without question, but we need to be on guard. Because believe me when I say this is gonna get even uglier. And then even more wondderful. But then even uglier than that.
And so forth...

Great photo! It's now my new screen saver. :)

And yes, I'm still thrilled. I will not be moved by the crazy bigots who cannot control their anger and disappointment the way I did when Bush won.. TWICE!

Mike & Keith - The hate crimes are like a 'death rattle'. They go away if we keep the spirit of hopefulness that Obama brought to us on November 4th with his election...

Regina - Change for most villagers will be dayum good!

Shae - You bring me a smile knowing that this is your screensaver! My attitude is that I'm not going to let the KKKooks steal my joy...

I remember how I felt after Clinton sent George HW Bush packing.

This is better. ;)

Monica - After the many presidential disappointments (Reagan, Bush-41 and Bush-43) ... it truly does seem like there are new opportunities and optimism about America's future. I'm sorry that Obama is faced with this economic crisis ... but, it gives him an opportunity to demonstrate leadership right from the jump...
