Could Al Gore be the Next Secretary of Energy?

I understand that President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden plan to meet with former Vice President Al Gore today.

In a statement, Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro said the three men would “discuss energy and climate change and how policies in this area can stimulate the economy and create jobs.”

Gore is a political superstar in the Democratic Party. He served for two terms as vice-president; earned more votes in presidential loss to George Bush in 2000; won Nobel Prize for his work on climate change in 2007; won an Academy Award for his about global warming film, 'An Inconvenient Truth'; and he is now a rich man as a result of his various tech-based partnerships.

Obama pledges to create millions of 'green jobs' over the coming years. How cool would it be for Obama to offer the job of Energy Secretary in his cabinet to Al Gore?

Obama is building a cabinet of stars. Do you think he can get Al Gore to join the mix?

I truly hope he appoints Al Gore,or someone with a firm commitment to green technology and the undoing of blind pollution. We can't afford to keep playing with the issue of Global warming and the pollution of the planet we and other species depend upon for survival.

~~~Shine on~~~*
This sounds like a great pick to me. hopefully, Gore would be willing to do the job.
DazJae & Esquire - I agree with you both. I have no idea if Al Gore could subjugate his ego enough to accept the offer it was made to him. However, what better place for Al Gore to implement his ideas than to have an entire federal government department at his beck and call...
Although I would like to see it, I don't think that we will. Just too good to be true.
That idiot Governor has sadly taken this meeting off the front page.
I think Al could swallow his pride and serve, he did work under Bill.
Besides this is a great way to stay in the national light.
I hope he does add President Gore to his cabinet.
Tariq - The Illinois governor sucked the air out of the room for Gore and any other political story for the moment. And you may be right ... it is unlikely Gore gets the job ... but, he would have been a remarkable selection...
Mike - I think that Gore winning academy award and nobel peace prize keeps him in the national limelight for a little longer, even if he doesn't become part of Obama administration. I do wish that he would join as Energy Secretary ... but, it appears that this will not happen after all...
Monica - We can dream...
