Old School Friday: Michael Jackson

Originally posted 2/20/2009

The theme for this week's Old School Friday meme is 'The Jackson Family'. Of course, the most famous (and talented) member of the the Jackson Family is Michael. His life has morphed into a sad parody over time ... but, there was a time when he was the alpha and omega of the music industry.

My favorite Michael Jackson songs have changed over time. Today, my favorite song from Michael's collection is 'Man in the Mirror'. I don't think that villagers of this generation fully appreciated the international superstar that was Michael Jackson. Check out this video to get a hint:

Man in the Mirror was a great song, one that showed he was growing up.

This is a fantastic song and so underrated. If you listen closely its got some nice cowbell action too!

Shawn - Janet is a close second ...especially with some of the sexy videos that she has put out recently...

VP - Yeah...I wish he asked himself that question everyday of his life (actually all of us should take a close look at our mirror). If Michael had analzed the man in the mirror more often perhaps he would have made better decisions...

Thembi - "cowbells"? Methinks that sista may be listening to her tunes with some herb in the blackground! (smile)

Hey Villager!

I hate to confess I was never truly a Michael fan, although there were definitely some of his songs I liked a lot. And his remarkable talent is indisputable. He was the musical giant of yours and my generation withoutquestion.

And Man in the Mirror is definitely one of my faves.
Happy OSF!

Definitely a good choice! There is absolutely no denying the astronomical effect Michael had on the music industry. It really makes you look at him now and just shake your head at what went wrong...

Happy OSF!

Man in the mirror could be a national anthem for our nation's leaders and for the media outlets that are creating more drama (like the NY Post heads). *sigh*

Great choice Villager.

Whatever his private demons from being a child in an intense career, Michael Jackson was an incredible talent who will be remembered forever. And for those of us looking for a future without hate: Black or White

Jamie - Thanx for the link to Black & White. It is a sad day all the way around...
