The theme for this week's Old School Friday meme is 'Motown'.
Motown was a remarkable music factory from 1959 thru 1972. In fact, there is a Motown Museum located on the same block that Berry Gordy led a music revolution.
I started to go with The Temptations as my music selection (My Girl and Ball of Confusion). However, in the end, I decided to go with Diana Ross singing in tribute to Marvin Gaye. Enjoy!

Figured out how to use Mr. Linky at the spot.
Diana, Diana, Diana.
Marvin had his place in today's soundtrack. Multi-tasking to tunes is the only way to roll.
I was surprised that one who has had my ear this week is on Motown.
Traveling down the road of lives.
You know the rest.

Yes Ms Diana was certainly "The Boss"! Great pick! We'll probably see a lot of Diana Ross today!
Unfortunately Diana has worn out her welcome in Detroit, unlike Aretha. She has essentially treated her hometown like an ugly stepchild. But there's no denying that beautiful voice, that's for sure.
I never knew this song was a tribute. This is great video footage with great talent; both Diana and Marvin are classic Motown. Thanks for taking us back.
Mine is up, but you can find me through Mr. Linky!
This is just beautiful. It's a classic. Happy OSF.
Ooh no you didn't! I'm going to be over here all day. :-)
I didn't know this song was a tribute to Marvin... good look Villager.
(Have you all heard that there's supposed to be a Marvin Gaye biopic in the works with Jesse L Martin - LOVE him!- as Marvin?)
Love Motown! Great choice for Old School Fridays.
How did you just post one Motown song? I almost lost myself when I went to get my videos.
Great choice.
Danielle - Mr. Linky is a cool widget. I seem to recall that you taught it to me back when I first learned about the meme concept...
Regina - Oddly enough, the song I enjoyed the most when I travelled around today was the one with James Brown & Pavarotti...
Keith - Too many people treat Detroit like play-cousins. Diana may be at the front of the line, but, she isn't alone...
Tayo - The beauty of going ol' school is that all of us learn new things or things we had forgotten. As for Jesse Martin playing Marvin ...yeah, I posted something on it awhile back.
Lady D - Discipline baby! Only one post for OSF ... however, multiple orgasms in other areas (smile)...
Thanks, Regina! And you're definitely on the money about how folks treat Detroit, Villager. It;s upsetting Diana has chosen gthat path, but the line is truly long and getting longer.
I don't know how you find the time to do it all, but you do. Happy OSF, and
this is one of my favorite Diana Ross songs. Certainly, Marvin will be missed...(FYI) Another song dedicated to Marvin is The Night Shift by the Commodores...
I had a HARD time getting to your site yesterday...I read about the issues on the AfroSpear notes...pissed me off. There were several pages I couldn't get to...
Anyway, The Boss is always a good choice!
Happy OSF!
GREAT pick Villager. Diana's voice sounds so sweet on this record. One of her best in my opinion...and that's saying a lot.
