The first step involved identifying the top 50 Black owned/operated blogs as measured by Technorati authority. The second step was a popular vote from anyone in the blogosphere to narrow the finalist down to 20 blogs. Finally, BlackPerspective.net used seven criteria to determine the Best Black Blogs.
The Best Black Blogs according to BlackPerspectives.net (with current Black Blog Ranking in parenthesis) are:
- Oliver Willis (BBR # 5)
- What About Our Daughters (BBR #15)
- Black Looks (BBR #37)
- The Field Negro (BBR #13)
- Ill Doctrine (BBR # 106)
- Undercover Blackman (BBR #38)
- Pam's House Blend (BBR #1)
- Electronic Village (BBR #25)
- Black and Missing But Not Forgotten (BBR #46)
- AngryBlackBitch (BBR #19)
Yobachi Boswell is the owner of BlackPerspectives.net. I just want to thank the young brother for taking time to conduct this process! Goes without saying that we are honored to be on this list. We will do all that we can to continue to earn a return visitor from our villagers!

congrats and hats off to all the winners
Good post Villager; thanks for letting folks know about the contest results.
Good thing we had your BBR rankings to start with.
I came across another set of blog rankings last week, and out of 100; I could only identify two blogs on the list that were minority; one Black and one Asian.
This is why we must do our own.
I'll post about it today or tomorrow.
CONGRATS TO THE WINNERS! this is GREAT NEWS for the Blogosphere... maybe in another post, we could see ALL of the Black Blogs!
RDawg - It is nice to see more and more recognition for some great voices in the afrosphere...
Yobachi - I'm grateful to you for taking time to create another process to recognize some really good Black blogs! I hope that each of these blogs find new readers as a result of your efforts!
Plez - I'm glad to see new lists and rankings that focus on the talented brothers and sisters out here in the afrosphere. I have over 1300 Black blogs on my list now...
Hey everyone!!
Congrats to all of the winners!
There are PLENTY of black blogs that do not have Technorati accounts though...I wonder if we are missing out on noticing the fine work of our brothers and sisters by leaning on this source so heavily...
Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!
Lisa
Huge CONGRATULATIONS to all of the winners who take the time to inform, uplift and educate with their online presence! Keep writing!
Lisa - Can you recommend another source (besides Technorati) that provides comprehensive metrics for blogs and bloggers?
