According to comments from classmates and other members of the community Bristol Palin, the governor's 16 year old daughter was out of school during what would have been the last trimester of the governor's pregnany due to a bad case of mono. A case so severe, according to the Palin family, Bristol missed nearly 5 months of school. Her own staff had their doubts back in March.
The story is that Sarah Palin's water broke while she was attending a conference in Texas. She then proceeded to give a 30-minute speech before taking an 11-12 hour flight home to Alaska to give birth.
So, what is really happening here? Villagers are left to wonder if Palin is simply a mother trying to protect the reputation and image of her family or is this a mother who simply wants to protect the image of her family or is Sarah the Barracuda using this pregnancy to bolster her career and win admiration from Rush Limbaugh, PUMAs and other right-wing wackos of the Republican Party by claiming the child as her own and choosing not to terminate the pregnancy knowing the child would have Down's Syndrome?
Initially, I thought that Palin's selection was Vice President was comparable to Dan Quayle. However, on second thought, perhaps Palin is more comparable to Tom Eagleton. You may recall that Tom Eagleton only lasted 17 days as the vice presidential nominee with George McGovern in 1972. I wonder if Palin will last that long?
The video below was taken in February 2008 ... two months before Trig was born. Does Gov. Palin look pregnant?

It sounds pretty convincing, but I want it in stone first.
i've read this on gothiclover.com, and a short video
This is all very interesting and certainly believe that something just ain't right with the Palin pick. Don't understand how a woman could be 6 or 7 months pregnant and no one she works with know it or even think it. Even more puzzling is why would a woman about to deliver a "special needs" child continue giving a speech and take an 11-12 hour flight home. That just seems very hard to swallow. As far as what is really happening, how about all of the above.
I'm with SjP on this one...something just ain't right...
I'm no expert on pregnancy or pregnancies with DS babies, but she doesn't look very big. And she doesn't rub her stomach at any point the way almost every mother I have seen that was at least 6 months on does.
But I don't want to jump to conclusions without more solid proof. Though her daughter's absence and her lack of urgency to get to a "safe" birthing place is getting close to good proof.
Mike - This is one of the dangers of McCain's hairtrigger. He chose a candidate without vetting her and now he has to live with these types of stories. One way to prove it is with DNA evidence...
Ada - This rumor is making the rounds in a number of places. It was reported in Alaska press prior to Palin becoming VP candidate...
Sojourner - It would be a remarkable story if it turns out to be true. I imagine that Mitt Romney is one of the first ones to seek out the evidence (smile)...
Marva - Time will tell...
Stuck in My Head - Yeah, oddly enough the photo seems to show Bristol (the 16-year old) with a little preggers pouch...
Hi -
Actually the baby bump photo is from 2006. Read this article and on page 2 you will see that the Anchorage Daily News (there's a link to it) says the photo is from 2006. (It's a gallery.)

Also, if you go to forums/msg boards, you will see Alaskan residents saying they know its not true because Bristol doesn't go to school in Anchorage, the photo is old/wrong, etc. etc.
Villager,
you beat me to the punch with this story... i just posted about Sarah Palin - Grandmother? over at plezWorld.
this is a fair question and it deserves to be fully investigated. since mccain didn't think it was necessary to fully vet ms. palin, i guess it will be the duty of the blogosphere to do so... if the baby is indeed hers, good deal! if the baby is really her grandson, then i think the Palin family will have some explaining to do!
Sahm - Thank you for providing the link and the other information to disprove the growing rumor. You do agree that McCain should have done a better job of vetting his candidate don't you?
Plez - Your blog post has remarkable links and sources. Very well done. Thank you for sharing the link to it for any villagers that want to learn more about this rumor...
All - Did you see that McCain campaign is trying to debunk this rumor by stating that the unmarried daughter is 5-months pregnant?
Is everyone in Alaska that boring? I had a strong urge to stop the video 1/3 of the way through.
As for Palin, there are plenty of reports of women not even knowing they're pregnant when they give birth, and women with super tight abdominals like Palin tend not to show as much. But there's so much else wrong with her as a VP one melanoma away from the presidency that it hardly matters.
P.S. The answer to the question is "yes" -- she has a definite paunch under that loose jacket; just look at the convex curve in the closing credits.
JQB - It is remarkable that a v-blogger would have that type of access to a governor. I was intrigued by the things that folks in Alaska find exciting ... like coffee shops and such...
