Diverse Blogger Pool Selected for 2008 Democratic National Convention

It turns out that a record number of blogs will receive credentials for the 2008 Democratic National Convention. And it appears that the DNC leadership took time to consider the issue of diversity in this round of selections.

I am very proud of the African American bloggers who raised the red flag when the State Bloggers Corp was announced earlier this month. I am very proud of the private discussions and the very public discussions that allowed the DNC to correct a potential controversy from extending further into the summer. The end result is that our powerful politically-based Black bloggers in the afrosphere will be connecting the rest of us to the sights and sounds of a truly historic event in Denver later this year.

Villagers -- WE WON! Never before have blogs been included in such strong numbers and provided with resources that will enable them to be the eyes and ears of so many at the Convention.

This is a phenomenal list! I see lots of blogs presenting niche views - feminists and women-related blogs, LBGT, environmental blogs, Latino and Native American, and African-American. Any news about the RNC?

I am happy to see the inclusion of many diverse blogs...way to go!

Urban Scientist - I'm not certain that I agree with calling them 'niche views' ... but, I get your gist ... and I agree that this is a very good list of bloggers. re: RNC -- I haven't been following them at all. I don't even know if they are doing the blogger credential thing...

Ms. Marvalus - I agree. Now if only Hillary Clinton would be cooperative over the next 5-7 days....

Hello there!

This is wonderful news!

Pam over at Pam's House Blend has mentioned that there is still an issue that remains about the TYPE of access the bloggers have...some blogs have only ONE entry pass and other blogs have as many as requested...do you know about this matter and how is it being resolved?

Are you going to use the live blogging feature that Pam's House Blend uses when she's on location?

This is so exciting!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!

Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!
Lisa

BWB The Trumpet - I won't be in Denver, however, I will be sharing much information about the DemConvention here on our blog. The issue about levels of access within the Convention Center is still an issue that Black DemConvention bloggers plan to work out with DNC folks...
