McCain's Pastor Wants to Destroy Islam

Our next President will either be Barack Obama or John McCain. Barack Obama had a horrific time dealing with the rhetoric coming from Jeremiah Wright. Hopefully, he has put the issue behind him for the duration of the campaign.

I wonder why John McCain hasn't disavowed his realtionship with Rev. John Hagee, the McCain supporter who said God created Hurricane Katrina to punish New Orleans for its homosexual "sins."

Another 'spiritual guide' that John McCain needs to explain to the American people is Rev. Rod Parsley. Parsley is the televangelist megachurch pastor from Ohio who hates Islam. According to David Corn of Mother Jones, Parsley has called on Christians to wage war against Islam, which he considers to be a "false religion." In the past, Parsley has also railed against the separation of church and state, homosexuals, and abortion rights, comparing Planned Parenthood to Nazis.

John McCain actively sought and received Parsley's endorsement in the presidential race. Does McCain share the vicious anti-Islam views. Since the media won't question McCain about his deeply bigoted pastor, I thought it would be only right to share this information with any villagers that might drop by my blog.

How can McCain get away with aligning himself to a religious leader who's called for an all-out war on Islam, someone who draws no distinctions between Muslims and violent Islamic extremists? [SOURCE]

Have you heard of Rev. Parsley before? What do you think of this situation as it relates to McCain's presidential aspirations?

I really want to say something thoughtful about this but it's Friday afternoon so all I can think about is that they're both totally insane. I hope the Muslim community gets riled up and starts pressuring the media to condemn this sort of crap.

Los Angelista - You don't have to say anything thoughtful for quite awhile. You made my day with the story of you, your husband and the Love Jones movie-date!

re: Muslim community. I agree. This is an election in which it appears they have a choice to make...

I suppose both candidates have ties to pastors/preachers that are radical and seem to be very vocal about what they believe to be true. Hmmm.

Religion will continue to be a factor when voting, especially in these uncertain times.

Sharing your view, this post will be highlighted on my next Blog Safari!

Tey - You are always welcome in our village...

Believer 1964 - My hope is that voters will focus on the candidates and not their surrogates or their pastors. Frankly, Wright does more damage to Obama than Parsley or Hagee do to McCain. In any case, I look forward to reading your blog safari post this week...

When Uncle J.Kenneth Blackwell ran for governor of Ohio and wanted to have a rally in Cleveland,Parsley bussed some "crackheads" (that what some of the media said)from Columbus to Cleveland for a photo op.

Kid - I always think that Blackwell is simply a lost soul. I live in Ohio. I'm very glad that he lost the gubernatoral election a few years back...

Kieya - Thank you for sharing your village voice with us. I hope you come back often.

re: McCain's pastors. There has been some discussion in the mainstream media, however, until the democratic nomination is completed it is difficult to focus on McCain...
