Michael Steele: 'Press Fell in Love with the Black Man Running for President'

Michael Steele has become a sad parody of himself. One day he is giddy that President Obama is clowning him at the White House Correspondents Dinner. The next day he is saying that his Republican Party will attack Obama 'with class'.

And I now bring you the latest evidence that Michael Steele is a fool.

Listen to this clip of Steele on a national radio show with ol' school fear-mongering about Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the unknown quantities of Barack Obama ... the most watched and known person on the face of the earth.

STEELE: The problem that we have with this president is that we don’t know [Obama]. He was not vetted, folks. … He was not vetted, because the press fell in love with the Black man running for the office. "Oh gee, wouldn’t it be neat to do that? Gee, wouldn’t it make all of our liberal guilt just go away? We can continue to ride around in our limousines and feel so lucky to live in an America with a black president." Okay that’s wonderful, great scenario, nice backdrop. But what does he stand for? What does he believe? … So we don’t know. We just don’t know.
It seems to me that enough Americans knew Obama on November 4, 2008 when they overwhelmngly elected him as our President of the United States.

It seems to me that America knew him well on January 20, 2009 when we came out in record numbers to hear his inauguration speech.

Finally, it seems to me that Obama is regularly talking to the American people in town hall meetings, press conferences, his own website and so forth. He is the most accessible and transparent presidents in my lifetime.

Villagers ... when is the last time that Michael Steele did or said anything that we could take seriously? He seems to add to his blooper reel every week. What are your thoughts on Michael Steele's performance as a national political leader?

So is he saying Americans are dumb, or that the 40% of whites voted for him because he was black, but didn't vote for Steele because he's another race?

Is he also saying the black card didn't work for Steele because he was vetted, and voters didn't like what Steele stood for during his governor run.

I don't have limousine, at least I don't think I do...

My assessment is no different than Racheal Maddow's commentatory from Princeton (beautiful sister, but I digress).

"Republicans went out to find Obama's Kryptonite -- so they went to 'Planet Black Guy' and this is what they came up with."He's was a figurehead powerless leader from the start and he's making a bigger fool of himself day in and day out.

It's rather obvious -- Micheal Steele has political 'penis envy'. He like Alan Keyes, Tavis Smiley and a lot other so-called 'Black leaders' and political talking heads are ticked offed that Obama is the head honcho and they're not! And like the rest of the GOP, Steele doesn't get that Barak Hussein Obama is the President and doesn't owe them squat! The fact that Obama even listens to these out of date goofballs shows his congenial character.

It doesn't help that Micheal Steele is a well paid Uncle Tom sellout who is a powerless mouthpiece of a party made up of now little more than 'fetus freaks' (what my friends call anti-choice advocates), race-baiters and gay bashers.
Rush Limbaugh & Bill O'reilly have more real clout in the GOP than to the first Black chairman of the party! Think about it -- two shock jocks have more influence over how Republicans vote than the guy who is actually paid to raise money and control the caucuses!!

He's been an embarrassment and an absolute failure. He's forgotten first role about being a token -- "Negro, Keep Your To Talk!!"

Villager: I couldn't watch this more than 30 seconds. It's hard watching a black guy in 2009 shining shoes for Limbaugh and the Right-wing of the GOP in between his duty of playing straight-up slave catcher for people who hate him and his people. Ugh ugh ugh.

Everytime I see this fool speak, I can't help but wonder how much money they put in his pocket to say the things he says.

He just looks bought and paid for...note to the GOP: he ain't the one, y'all.

Mrs. Grapevine - Michael Steele puts a visual on the term, 'diarrhea of the mouth'...

LACoincidental - My first time hearing your village voice. I hope you have reason to come back more often in the future! I concur with everything you said ... including the complement of the sister from Princeton! Alan Keyes, Michael Steele and Tavis Smiley do show symptoms of 'political penis envy'...

MacDaddy - Straight-up slave catcher. Good thing that the slaves have better options this time around...

Marvalus - I imagine that even Michael Steele's family must be embarrassed...

Hotep Villager,

Michael "You Be De Man" Steele is coming across as everything but that.

He really is a confused soul. That comes across really clear when he opens his mouth. I have listened to him and found myself doing a lot of WTF? comments during his time on the air.

I don't know if he really go it that Barack was clowning him during the Correspondents Dinner.
Steele is not that hip! While he stood there smiling like a mule eating yellowjackets, he didn't seem to realize he was the joke.

As far as vetting is concerned-that is a moot point. That is the least of my concerns as a citizen.

I will give him credit for being a good one-I would have pulled a can of industrial strength WA and got busy with Rush and anybody else who thought they could openly disrespect me and get it off. Instead he smiles and declared that what happened was a set-up. Which indicates to me that he might need a mental health check up.

Lady D - I hope that Michael Steele is getting paid. That can be the only redeeming feature of his first 100+ days in office as the RNC chair. He is the poster child for 'token negro'. I imagine that his mentor is Clarence Thomas...

If the GOP was hoping that Black peeps would take a second look at the GOP by putting him in the chair, well, they played themselves.

His brief tenure only cemented the impression in many Black peeps minds how impotent Blacks are in the Republican party and how they are regarded.

Monica - I read today that Black unemployment is currently at 15%. If Michael Steele and the Republicans can't get a taste of Black support in this economic enviornment ... then it is doubtful that they will get it when the economy turns around...

If the GOP played to the economic plights of Blacks, it would be even worse!! Essentially, Micheal Steele would be selling the recycled Reagonomics ideas that bankrupt the country and caused said Black unemployment rate. That would send the remaining Black folks out of the party. Now, why any Black folks would still be in the GOP in 2009 and not on the party payroll, has serious issues, but that's another issue.

LACoincidental - I'm beginning to think that Michael Steele has a jones for Obama. I see where he is upset that President Obama took his wife out for dinner and a Broadway play over the weekend...
