Old School Friday: Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder

The theme of the week is, “This IS Dedicated To ____________.” I've decided to dedicate my entry to my people ... all of the people of African descent in America who are trying to make ends meet. Stevie Wonder wrote this song back in 1973, however, it still resonates in too many African American homes today. Close your eyes and enjoy the musical magic of Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles as they remind us what it is like to 'live just enough for the city'...

Asante sana to Mrs Grapevine and Ms Marvalus for creating Old School Friday. I encourge all villagers with a blog to participate in this weekly meme!

One of my favorite songs from two of the greatest musical geniuses ever. Great pic, Villager, and Happy OSF!

Keith - Asante sana. I'll be by your cyber-place in a few to see what funky selection you've made this week. My next blog post is on the 8-Mile Road protest held yesterday between Detroit & Warren against the taser-related death of 16-year old Robert Mitchell. My original blog post title had "Detroit" in it ... but, this case involves the Warren Police Department ... not Detroit ... so I took Detroit out of the blog title. I hope to reserve Detroit in my blog title only for positive and upbeat stories...

Livin' just enough for the city! Just enough is all I have. Great choices.

Wow, these two legends should have come together for an entire album. Too bad we can't always get what we want.

It's a shame we lost Ray, however his memory and music will live on. Thank god for that. :)

Happy OSF!

That's amazing! How did I ever miss this performance? Thanks for posting it. How lucky for folks who saw them perform together in person.

Hope you had a happy OSF and a great and safe Memorial Day weekend.
