Who Will John Edwards Endorse?

I see where Barack Obama quietly flew down to North Carolina to meet with John Edwards about the 2008 presidential campaign. This follows a meeting that Edwards had with Hillary Clinton earlier this month. The key question that everyone is asking:

Who Will John Edwards Endorse?

What do you think? The three choices are (a) Clinton, (b) Obama or (c) Nobody. Which of those three choices do you think John Edwards will choose?

I think this is a no brainer lol. You saw how close Obama and Edwards were during the debates. He's probably going to endorse Obama.

Obama hands down. Please not Hillary. Please. :)

Deidra & Sandee - What do you think that Edwards is waiting on to announce his decision? We've heard from Romney, Giuliani, Thompson and many other candidates that have stepped down. Why are Edwards (and the governor down in New Mexico) waiting so long?

nobody...he should stay neutral til the last possible moment and serve to stir the pot. I really liked Edwards and was disappointed he didn't make it. So I'd like to see him hold out endorsements and make sure Hillary and Barack keep addressing those issues. - Same for Richardson..except for him, he should go for being the next Sec. of State.

Urban Scientist - Good points. Out of curiousity ... what were 2-3 of the things you really liked about the Edwards campaign?

I actually would not mind seeing Edwards as a VP for either candidate. Maybe that's what he's holding out for?

We really do need a champion for the poor in the White House.

I agree... Obama hands down... that's what I'm hoping for anyway. We need Obama in the White House... no doubts at all.

Have you seen the video that is out? It's titled "Yes We Can".

Here is the link:

http://www.yeswecansong.com

It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.

Yes we can.

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.

Yes we can.

It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.

Yes we can.

It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.

Yes we can to justice and equality.

Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.

Yes we can heal this nation.

Yes we can repair this world.

Yes we can.

We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.

We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics...they will only grow louder and more dissonant ........... We've been asked to pause for a reality check. We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.

But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.
Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea --

Yes. We. Can.

Villager: I was drawn to his focus on poor/working class issues and his committment to get some sort of universal healthcare coverage.

I will say Obama, I believe he will be Obama running mate.

That is a good question...
I hope and pray that he endorses Obama. I would have voted for Edwards for president but since he stepped down I would like to see him on the ticket with Obama. I think that would be an awesome move toward change for this country.
So we will have to wait and see...

That dude is holding out for something a Vice job maybe, he is looking for a clear cut winner before he lays it down.

Dixie - I have seen the video. In fact, it is on a post from a few weeks ago here in our village. However, I hadn't seen the lyrics in writing before. Thank you for sharing them with us...

Regina & Mike - I see that you both hope for John Edwards to be vice presidential candidate to Obama. He wasn't able to get John Kerry over the top in 2004. Why do you think he is better positioned to assist Obama this year?

Villager- I think Edwards would be a great asset to a national Obama campaign. As to how he did not help Kerry in 04, I think Kerry did not help himself. If that ticket had been reversed I think Edwards would have won. Also, Edwards serves to balance the ticket and draw working class democrats.

Joe - First and foremost, thank you for sharing your village voice with us. You are probably right about the 2004 election. Edwards/Kerry could not have done worse than Kerry/Edwards did...

re: Obama's VP selection (if he wins the nomination) ... I think that he must select someone with strong military experience to counteract McCain's greatest strength. I don't have any ideas who that person would be ... but, that is my thought at this point...
