Does Gov. Mark Sanford (R-SC) Have 'Mad Cow Disease'? He Compares Obama to Robert Mugabe

Someone needs to remind South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, whose state has the second-worst-in-the-nation 10.4 percent unemployment rate, that "people who live in glass houses should not throw stones". I suspect that the unemployment rate for African Americans in South Carolina is approaching 20%.

Sanford is a failed Republican politician. He failed to bring jobs into his state ... failed to provide water, sewage, bridges, roads and other infrastructure projects that would attract economic development ... failed to deal with dispair by students in South Carolina. Instead he rants about the Obama presidency.

Sanford has been telling anyone who will listen that he is against the stimulus package passed into law last month. He's made wild comparisons of the United States to pre-Hitler Germany and 1920s Argentina. This week he ramped up his rhetoric when he compared President Obama and other supporters of the stimulus package to the economic policies of Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe.

"What you're doing is buying into the notion that if we just print some more money that we don't have, send it to different states - we'll create jobs... If that's the case why isn't Zimbabwe a rich place?"..."why isn't Zimbabwe just an incredibly prosperous place. Cause they're printing money they don't have and sending it around to their different - I don't know the towns in Zimbabwe but that same logic is being applied there with little effect."

Sanford is saying that our situation is comparable to Zimbabwe, a nation in the throes of an economic meltdown:
Personally, I think it is time for the citizens of South Carolina to bitch-slap Gov. Sanford. The Democratic National Committee is more diplomatic in their response video:

What is your take on Gov. Mark Sanford?

He's a racist idiot.

RiPPa - Did he hide his racism and idiocy from the people of South Carolina when they elected him? or is that what they want in a governor?

This is the problem with some of these right wing nutjobs . . . they don't have any critical thought.

If it's not Glenn Beck saying Jesus is like Hitler in that they both say they have an answer and folks should follow them. It's this Governor (can you believe he could rise to such loft) comparing our President to a tyrant like Mugabe.

The scary thing to me is that many think these folks actually make sense.

Wow. When Newt stopped leading the party, the least intelligent Republicans started wining seats. Hopefully, this means S.C. can go the way of NC and VA in 2010.

When I read remarks like this one, blue collar commedian Ron White always comes to mind. I love his stand up routine titled:You Can't Fix Stupid!

I am sure that when he was putting together material for his act, people like this nitwit was on his mind.

Idren Villager,

You owe an apology to all mad cows. Even a mad cow isn't THAT mad! His comments were below low.

AAW & Sojourner - I figure that it is a service that I can bring to others by ensuring that we shine the light on these roaches when they utter racially-insensitive remarks so that they will either (a) correct their behavior in the future or (b) scurry for the nearest hole to hide themselves in shame...

Homeland Colors - That would be remarkable, however, I think that South Carolina is about as red a state as exists in our union...

Lady D - I hadn't heard of Ron White until your post. I went on the Internet and listened to his 'You Can't Fix Stupid...' comedy routine. I do see the resemblance! (smile)

Lady Roots - Over the past few weeks I've been watching syndicated re-runs of TV show called "Boston Legal". One of the characters suffers from altzhimers ... but doesn't want to admit it. So, he tells folks that he has 'mad cow disease'. That is what caused me to make the reference in the blog title. However, you're probably right ... it is an insult to that disease and all cows everywhere to compare them to this dimwit in the South Carolina statehouse...
