Eliot Spitzer and Emperor's Club VIP Prostitutes

Another sleazeball in the Hillary Clinton campaign. Governor Eliot Spitzer endorsed Hillary Clinton last year. Now we find out that Spitzer has been engaged with a prostitution ring. Spitzer has informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, an administration official said this morning. [SOURCE]

Eliot Spitzer was elected in 1998 and 2002 as New York state Attorney General. And on November 7, 2006, Mr. Spitzer was elected to a 4-year term as Governor of New York state. In June 2005, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson hailed Eliot Spitzer as "the future of the (Democratic) party." And 2004 presidential candidate Wesley Clark said that Spitzer was on his vice-presidential short-list.

Time magazine named him "Crusader of the Year" in 2002. In 2003, San Francisco Chronicle named him "Businessperson of the Year." In 2004, University of Illinois honored him with its "Ethics in Government" award. New Yark magazine gave him their Public Service Award.

On a personal level, Spitzer is married with three teenage daughters. His wife, Silda, a Harvard Law School graduate, is founder of Children for Children, which helps children volunteer to benefit other children.

With all that being said it is no surprise that he would have a side piece other than his wife.

People who prosecute folk for doing dirt are usually the ones who do dirt just the same.

As a brother put it on another blog... People in glass houses.

This type of behavior is no surprise to me and shouldn't be a surprise to anyone when it comes to the acts of a politician.

I am not surprised at all of what people in "power" are capable of and all too often succumb to.
I just wish that this behavior was the exception and not the rule. It is becoming the norm.

Urban Thought - It is always a surprise when our leaders show themselves to be less in reality than they are in their rhetoric...

Regina - It sez in a book that I've read that pride comes before the fall. Just ask Kwame Kirkpatrick and Eliot Spitzer...

You think so? I mean consider watching Clinton and Lewinsky, Kennedy and Monroe.

We see these types of things time and time again. I watched the news last night. They had a segment highlighting the indiscretions of politicians.

Maybe its just me. I expect the worst of anyone in the public eye no matter how righteous or morally just they portray themselves to be.

Urban Thought - You named four examples ... out of 44 presidents, 50 governors, 100 senators, gazillion mayors and so forth. Yes, I still am amazed when a high-profile person thinks that they can get away with stuff.

I speak from experience (sad to say) on this matter...

Sad for his family and sad for him. Sad for us in NY. But he is human and will find a new direction, for the better, I would bet. For the critics, hold your tongues lest you find yourself or someone you love in the same position.

It happens. And if it does, be supportive and forgiving. Nobody, high or low, is immune to being human.

Kat - Amen to that! I think that he did the right thing. I hope that he can get his life back together...
