Nice cartoon. The guns are what we as a society should be concerned about. Sadly very few place a focus on this and as a community we're being destroyed because of it.

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about the need for black women to support tougher immigration laws and there were quite a few women who were surprised to hear a black woman stand firm about illegal immigrants. I suppose the assumption is that black women are lax about the enforcement of law.
@Lisa: First off, illegal is not a noun. Secondly, illegal immigration is the least of our problems in this country. However, hardliners on the right would have you and I believe otherwise. The issue here is that they have created another class of people to target for criminalization. And guess what? The new Secretary of DHS, Napolitano is taking a different approach to all the ongoing raids of the last few years. Their needs to be a paradigm shift and penalize employers. This is something that is not being done currently. Instead, they toss these people into prisons all across the country and treat them as enemy combatants with no legal representation or rights afforded per the constitution. And you know why? Because they make money off of them. The system needs to be reformed. They need to expand the numbers of Visas issued per year and a clear path to citizenship needs to be implemented that's affordable. Besides, wasn't this country occupied by illegals when they came off the ships and eventually snatched US up and brought us here?
RiPPa - Your words about guns are prophetic in light of the murdering rampage that took place today in upstate NY. It boggles my mind that our gun usage is sooooooooooo much higher than Canada or Europe. I'm heading over to see your blog post shortly...
Lisa - I'm OK with the illegal immigrants currently in the country ... they should be given a path to citizenship. I do want USA to do better job of policing the border to stem the flow...
RiPPa - I wish we could create a Hall of Shame for employers that are caught using undocumented workers and doing things like paying them substandard wages...
@Villager: As the son of immigrants from the Caribbean, and having been born outside of this country, this is an issue dear to my heart. I cannot in good conscience endorse the system as it is right now when it needs to be expanded. What folks don't realize, is that the immigration "problem", has created a new class of people. That said, it's easy to create an us against them attitude by the ruling elite. While we argue among each other over immigration, corporations are profiting greatly from their criminalization and subsequent building of prisons across this country.
you mentioned the shooting in New York state. See what happens when said divisive rhetoric gets overplayed? It's the same thing they did to us as a people in earlier times in this country after emancipation.
RiPPa - The whole immigration issue is not very much in the public eye any longer. Hopefully the new administration will find a way to deal with it as you suggest...

Hello there!
I didn't see this cartoon before!

Okay...is that loud enough?

Oh and one last thing...
