Geraldine Ferraro is a major fundraiser for Hillary Clinton. She was talking with the media today and claimed that the only reason Barack Obama is winning the Democratic nomination process is because he is an 'affirmative action candidate'.
"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," she said. "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."
Some villagers may be too young to remember Ferraro. She was a congresswoman for less than six years when Walter Mondale chose her as his running mate in the 1984 presidential campaign. Outside of her New York district and Capitol Hill, few of us had heard of her. It is likely that Mondale picked her in a desparate effort to beat Ronald Reagan. Mondale wanted to break a barrier -- selecting the first (and, so far, only) woman for a major-party presidential ticket. It didn't work too well. Mondale/Ferraro were beat 49-1 in the election that year.
I wonder if Team Clinton thinks that George W. Bush is "very lucky" to be in the White House ... benefiting from the fact that his Daddy was a former White House occupant?
I wonder if Team Clinton thinks that Hillary Clinton is "very lucky" to be a leading presidential candidate ... benefiting from the fact that her husband was a former White House occupant?
Ferraro and Team Clinton continue to overlook the fact that Barack Obama brings to the table leadership skills and talents that are remarkable. Look at his fundraising success. Look at his community organizing success that results in him winning more than twice as many states as Team Clinton. Look at his magnificent communication skills with audiences all over the nation.
I continue to be amazed at the arrogance and borderline racist tendency of Hillary Clinton and her surrogates. It is difficult to go a full day without another example of poor judgement and diarrhea of the mouth from Clinton's surrogates. I wonder what type of weak response we will hear from the candidate?

If Geraldine Ferraro comes by to this visit this blog ... my simple statement to her:
'Shame on You!

Great Post, I had plan to post on this subject later today. Hillary, Geraldine, and all of her color aroused, closet bigots deserve each other. Thanks for taking the sheets off of "these evil people"
AAPP
I will not personally speak out to support Barack Obama, until he personally starts speaking out in support of black women. Sorry. He's on his own where I'm concerned.
Yet Another Slap of the Race Card!
I use to be for Hillary right now she couldn't buy my vote, I would rather deal with 4 years of insane McCain then one day of the "Ice Queen"
a comment from one of my readers
"
"People who vote for there gender" ??????
Question where does that leave those Sistas sons, nephews, brothers, uncles, and all that??
what about the young and the old?
Who makes this stuff up!!!????"
Ms. Geraldine is getting old and unable to surpress her true racist motives. Hateful thang.
AAPP - Team Clinton is having a difficult time dealing with their disappointment at being on the wrong end of history. I'm glad that I'm able to share information that is useful. Share some link-love if you find it appropriate to do so...
Miss Web - “So often, victims of domestic abuse suffer in silence – they don’t know where to turn, and they often have no one to turn to. And so it’s easy to think that one of these victims could be somebody you love – a mother, a daughter, or a sister. . . I want you to know that you’re not alone in this struggle – that there are people listening and fighting with you to bring this issue out of the darkness of isolation and into the light of justice. I want you to know that I’ll continue to be one of those people.” [Barack Obama, Apna Ghar Domestic Violence Shelter, 4/11/06]
Out of curiousity ... has John McCain or Hillary Clinton personally spoken out in support of Black women? Or is this a standard that you only apply to Barack Obama?
That Girl Boo - Definitely a race card example. Very sad...
Shelia - Another example of 'surrogates gone wild'. I am very interested to see how Hillary responds...
Borderline racist tendency? Not sure its borderline or a tendency. I, too, would like to give Team Clinton the benefit of my doubt - but if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck - then guess what...its a DUCK!
Sojourner - I like your duck analogy. Time to stop the quacking and get ready for a new era of leadership...
