Pfc. LaVena Johnson: Was this 19-Year Old Soldier Murdered?

I learned about the troubling story of a 19-year old Black female soldier who the United States Army claims died from her own hands ... suicide. War is hell... Shyt happens. That might be the first thought when the Army opinion is made public.

However, it begins to look more and more like this nubian sister was raped and murdered. Take a moment to review the following news video for details:

I am interested in your thoughts on the death of LaVena Johnson. What say u?

This truly horrendous tragedy for Lavena Johnson's family and unfortunately a clear sign that our military men and women are being mentally abused and so many have gone mad.

We need to bring our troops home, now! We need real accountability for military coverups.

I am spreading this among my networks to widen the audience.

As always....

Seems pretty obvious that she was murdered and that the Army is covering it up ... which makes you wonder if they know who did it and it's someone they want to protect.

I feel so bad for her parents. This has to just twist a knife in their grief and prolong the agony. How can they even begin to heal when they can't put closure on the cause or clear her name of a false accusation like this. Tragedy on top of tragedy.

Doesn't sound much like suicide to me. The reports that her parents got ahold of make the case seem like it should have been ruled a murder.

Danielle - Thank you for sharing this information with your blog readers and wider network. I hope that others pick up on the story. I was sorry that I didn't hear about it until the past few days. We need to ensure that the blogosphere is supporting this heroine's family in their time of need...

Raven & Ryanne - I agree with your assessment. I ask that you consider sharing this story with your blog readers...

Yea, I read about her a few days ago.

Sorry, but that "suicide" mess really equates to the Army saying "f*ck effort" in trying to cover it up. How do you die at your own hands in that manner?

I discovered that a previous petition just recently expired, so I made another one.

Please take a look, sign and pass on!

Justice for LaVena Johnson

This is the first I have heard of this and I am not exactly locked in a cave when it comes to news.

Let's renew the interest in investigation and full disclosure.

In light and love

military rape is WAY to common, especially during conflict times. And murder to cover it up isn't uncommon either. I remember a case of another 18-19 yr female private that "committed suicide' not long after the beginning of the Iraq War.

Ms Johnson is not the first mystery.

Keiya & Urban Scientist - This case needs to be re-opened with an honest investigation. I hope you will sign the online petition and share information about this tragedy with your blog readers...

Danielle - I signed and shared with others in my network as well. Thank you for doing this. You should leave a note on the LaVena Johnson website so that they can promote the online petition as well....

Yes, Wayne,

I am in contact with Mr. Barron and waiting on some numbers from him on the success of his sponsored petition and then it's up on Modern Musings.

You, sir, are a catalyst!

Its a coverup. And as someone else noted, this kind of incident in the military happens more often than it should. No doubt lets keep raising our voices, talking about it, being publicists for her case and others, and keep coming up ways to step up the pressure for something to be done.

Danielle and Aaron - We can make a difference if we believe it. Let's continue to do what we do to raise awareness of this issue and get the investigation re-opened. Who knows where the ripples will go from the pebbles we are throwing out this week...

It sadden me to hear what is happening to the brave men & women who dedicate their life to serving their countries. The Government has always cover up incidents that may cause an uproar or that are clearly an act of violence that has gone on since the beginning of time.Covering up these stories does not bring justice to anyone..it brings on more violence. It is time that we as citizens of this universe take an approach to seek peace and understanding of our purpose here on Earth. Our condolences to the family of Pfc LaVena Johnson and may they find Peace and some form of closure.Your daughter will not be forgotten she will be in all our prayers.

Word Warrior ABC - Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts. We join with you in seeking prayers for the family.

However, we must also seek action. I hope you will sign our online petition.

At the same time, I think that those of us in America need to contact our congressional representatives about this situation...
