Who is Whining Now Phil Gramm?

Former U.S. Sen. Phil Gramm, a top adviser to John McCain, resigned from McCain’s presidential campaign after he was criticized recently for saying, "We have sort of become a nation of whiners,” he said. “You just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness, America in ‘decline’ despite a major export boom that is the primary reason that growth continues in the economy."

How the mighty have fallen!

Gramm was a presidential candidate a few election cycles ago. He was the key economic advisor to McCain. Of course, the guy is still an executive with UBS Investment Bank, so he won't be missing any meals.

The odd thing is that Gramm was simply repeating much of what McCain has been saying about the economy over the past few weeks. Check out the following video to see what I mean:

Doesn't it sound like Phil Gramm, John McCain and George Bush all think that high gas prices, high food prices, low stock market prices, increasing unemployement and other economic problems that we are experiencing are simply 'psychological'? Do they truly think that the problems are all in our heads?

Anyhow, I'm glad that Phil Gramm is now out of politics. Next we need to get George Bush and John McCain into the retirement home as well! What say u?

Great post Villager. And yeah, you're dead on the money about the Three Stooges. They haven't experienced, their friends haven't experienced it, therefore it must not exist.

Thanks for drawing attention to this. Must say I though the same thing when I first heard it. Do you think that they think we're all idiots or what?

And yes, please, let's hurry and get McCain to "The Shady Rest" (pun intended).

Ya know Villager...

The Dubya and Dick administration ushered in a dangerous, "new" LOW in terms of the Republican Party's cynical, CORRUPT and arrogant mindset, in general, and more specifically, the DEPRAVED indifference of the "good OLE boyz" who've been passing themslevs off as "leaders", including John McBush.

Those POSERS know darn well that the Pain being felt by most Americans is "Real." But the figure IF they can just, once again, bamboozle enough "NOT too bright" Americans into believing it's all in "the mind"_

_well then, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Keith - 'Three Stooges' (smile)...

Sojourner - The funny thing is that McCain tried to keep Gramm on board after the comments. It took him over a week to figure out that Gramm and his comments simply were unacceptable...

Torrance - I'd just like some loot left in my accounts on the 30th of each month (sigh). As for the 'Village Bestseller ... I rotate the top two photo features on each sidebar daily ... so any single photo stays up for about 4 days before it is replaced with a new one.

Truthiz - I don't think it will work this year. If Obama gets thru this international trip successfully ... then I think this election will be a blowout...
